And the only person in the world who could have sent her to jail, Judge Merriweather, stated "In my opinion, you should go to jail".....then sentenced her to community service instead. Amazing.

I wonder how many people pull scams like this or similar ones, knowing full well the consequences (assuming they're even caught) are a joke. When it comes right down to it, Carolyn Reid is out 100 hours of her time, and a job she never should have had in the first place.

Sometimes I wonder who does more damage, the people who hand out the timebombs, or the people that actually use them.

What people seem to miss in these situations are lines like this:

"Reid pulled the scheme by passing off someone else's teaching certificate as her own, said Deputy state Attorney General Marc Costanza, who prosecuted the case."

Is that a Type 4 TB?

I think the funniest part is that she became President of the alumni chapter of the sorority to which she never belonged. I guess they didn't check to see if she knew the secret hand-job.

Considering the scam she pulled, "hand-job" may indeed an appropriate description....

So much of the finer shades of fact seems to get left out in the press coverage. But nevertheless, she outrightly perpetrated a scam.
