What is the reputation of Amberton? They seem to offer some great programs at a great price but they get very little discussion on here. I love the MA in Professional Development (build your own degree) and wonder why more people do not jump on this.
I don't have direct experience, but I haven't seen anything said negative about the school on the "interwebs." i told you about them not long ago, but you insisted on Trident. I may take up their project management and subsequently their MBA, after I withdraw from Bellevue, which I'm in the process now. I keep asking myself, why pay $1500 per MBA class when I can pay about $700? Amberton is a no-brainer, especially if one doesn't need student loans.
You're right, it is an interesting program. If I hadn't wanted a more name program for my terminal degree I'd have been all over this. This is something I may look at afterwards for continued development.
I have heard nothing but good things about Amberton. You can't go wrong with a degree from them. Abner
I've always been a fan of Amberton, with the caveat that they're an Evangelical school (although they don't seem to push it with their programs) and they lack business school accreditation for their business programs (AACSB, etc.). I couldn't possibly care less about their religious underpinnings, but I know that's a dealbreaker for some. Considering they're RA with very inexpensive online programs and have no known significant negative baggage, I rate them as one of the great bargains in DL.
I've always thought their MA in Professional Development was interesting too, although their non-participation in Title IV makes them inaccessible to a lot of people.
How important is Title IV for many? Do you think Amberton would get more students if they participated? Would there be a reason a school wants to "stay small"?
I do not "insist" on Trident. I wanted to take a few marketing classes a year and a half ago and knew the "system" and the price was right. I found out they would take a few of my MS-ITM credits towards the MBA. I then realized I only need 4 more classes for an MBA so I finished it in July of this year. I decided to take one Public Healthcare course at Trident because I wanted to keep the transcript request simple if I apply for a Healthcare teaching job ( I already had 15 credits). For one class I did not want to enroll in a new program, learn a new system, spend $70 or so requesting transcripts, pay an application fee, etc. Maybe it was lazy maybe I took the road of least resistance. If I ever decide to enter another program, and I am sure I will, it will be from USF, UF, UWF, U of Tampa, or FGCU. How is that for an honest answer? Now let's get back to Amberton...
I have always liked Amberton Good programs, the course syllabi (which they have easily viewable on their site) look right in line with other Master's level courses so plenty rigorous, etc. They have always been on my short list.
Amberton is a great option compared to Online-only (.EDU) schools. Its RA, B&M and low cost. .EDU schools cannot compete with that.
