Hello everybody, as I am planning to relocate to Brasil in the next future I am thinking of joining a distance learning program at a Brazilian university. There are quite a few that I found, but without any chance to evaluate the quality from overseas, I would prefer a school/course that is accredited. So far I found FGV AMBA/Equis/AACSB Ibmec AMBA Does anyone know of more I might have missed?
Luckily for him there is a Frequent brazilian poster here that happens to know a lot about MBAs Sweetowki, FGV and Ibmec are two of the top business schools in Brazil. They are also the rare case of private Brazilian Universities being considered good in Brazil, where the top schools tend to be the Federal and State Universities. FGV has been doing online programs for a long time, Ibmec only recently entered the online field, so I think FGV has a advantage here - and they are triple accredited, something rare even for american programs. FGV also has some international online programs, like the Global MBA (with the Manchester Business School - you get the degree from FGV and from the MBS). But keep in mind some drawbacks of doing a Brazilian online degree: 1) A MBA is not considered a Master degree in Brazil, they are considered a postgraduate certificate because they don't have a thesis component. This will probably won't matter if you don't plan to teach, but it's good to keep this in mind. 2) Brazilian Law determines that every distance learning program needs a residency requirement, so it's not 100% online. The Global MBA let's you take those classes in Brazil, US, England, Dubai and other countries. 3) The classes will be in Portuguese (with some in English if you pick one of the two International programs), so you'll need a good grasp of the language. And Portuguese is a hard language to master. As you plan to relocate to Brazil I think it's really a good idea to enroll in a Brazilian program - you'll learn a lot about the particularities of doing Business in Brazil and you'll improve your Portuguese, which is crucial (foreigners learn really fast that you cannot really live well in Brazil only speaking English or Spanish. People will happily try to understand you, but that won't help much because 99% of the population only speaks Portuguese).
Brasil is the perhaps the place with the most beautil women and party that I've seen. I don't blame you from wanting you to move there.
@RFValve: I am going there wife my wife - it is a little bit like bringing a tree into the forest... @jfosj: I know there are several global or executive MBAs with at least on residency in Brazil, but that is out of my budget.
