Has anyone here had experience with "Access Group" as a student loan lender? Are they reputable? Thanks, anne
I have a Stafford Loan through Access Group and it's worked out fine. I wish that I'd found them sooner since I ended up paying additional fees for an earlier Stafford Loan through another lender. My Access Group loan is actually managed by the Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority. Yes, Access Group is a perfectly reputable lender. They specialize in lending private loans to law and medical students (those who often need loans beyond federal limits), but also participate in all the federal student loan programs.
Thanks, folks. I'm getting ready to try and transfer to a M.A. program at a different school, and I heard of them as a possible source of loans for students who with less than half-time status. (My current school does the compressed-semester thing, which I hate, but it qualifies me for a Stafford loan; at my new school, one class per term is less than half-time and does not let me qualify.) I'll check them out this weekend. Re the Stafford loan origination fee: I got bitten by that at my current institution. Wish I'd realized that there were alternatives. anne
