Hi all, I am quickly nearing the completion of my BA (Psychology concentration and a lot of history courses) from Excelsior, and due to my current circumstances, I am able to devote myself to full time study. I am wondering if any of you know of any masters programs that meet (or at least come close to) the following criteria: Enroll at any time (preferred) Self-paced (format doesn't matter) No (or at least very few) arbitrary time delays (i.e. x classes per term) RA (or overseas equiv.) MA or MS 100% distance Basically, I am looking for something that I can spend 14 hours per day on (~200 hrs every two weeks) to complete and then be able to immediately start the next course. I don't mind if a thesis is required at the end of the program, but I would like to take on the coursework as quickly as possible. Does anything like this exist, or is this just wishful thinking?
Cory, try this one in a Masters program, its close with a history base, bit of Psychology and can be had for under $4000, completely DL. http://www.shu.ac.uk/schools/cs/history/mastr.htm This was on Lawrie Miller's 'BA in 4 weeks site' Good luck. John Roberts Ph.D (London ICST)
The format most certainly =does= exist. However, I think you might want to select a program first, or doesn't it matter? Regardless, why limit yourself to self-paced? If you have a lot of time to devote exclusively to studying and course work, you could select a typical DL program (10-15 week format) and then take a huge load (like 5 courses per term).
This is an interesting looking program and the price is certainly right. It looks fairly hard to accelerate this course though. According to the website, only one unit may be taken at a time, and the terms are 14 weeks in length with minimum time to completion of two years. I have a wide variety of interests, from the humanities to hard science, and am undertaking this degree out of personal interest rather than career interests. With that in mind, I am looking for programs available that may be accelerated to find out what is out there before making my selection. With my BA, I have been working on a course or two at a time and completing them before moving on to the next course. I know the method works for me, and I like the fact that I am able to concentrate on just one or two topics at a time. Also, while I am currently able to devote myself to full-time study, I can't guarantee that that will be the case in the future. If I need to back off on the pacing I am able to do so with a self-paced and serial course of study, but if I had 5 courses per term it would be a lot harder to shift the workload as need demanded.
Are you willing to do a Masters in Psychology DL by course work or research, fast track? Since your doing it out of interest only, and it appears you like Psychology/History then take a look at UNISA, its also less than $1000/year?. http://www.unisa.ac.za/dept/psy/postgraduate_courses.html. If its an MCom, LLM or M.Ed take a look again at the offerings linked through Lawrie Millers site 'BA in 4 weeks" John Roberts Ph.D (London ICST)
Cory, try this one more time since the link above did not re-open. http://www.unisa.ac.za/dept/psy/index.html John Roberts Ph.D (London ICST)
