The following may be of interest with regard to use of the .ac.uk domain for Universities www.ja.net/documents/naming/names_ac_gov.html www.ja.net/documents/naming/ac.uk-naming-rules.html .
Helpful information. Thank you. However #1: The standards say, "A request will not be allowed if it is for a name that is either one or two characters in length." Well, um, how about Heriot-Watt, www.hw.ac.uk? However #2: I note that a growing number of phonies are registering their website in the Ascension Islands (Shaftesbury, Robertstown, etc.), thereby getting a ".ac" suffix, which will undoubted confuse some well-meaning seekers.
Also www.stafford.ac, which, interestingly enough seems to use a close copy of the Renshaws college logo, a registered trade mark I suspect some of the non-conforming urls may be from the old JANET network days preceding the registration system we have now.
