Totally Fraudulent University (that's the name), recognized by the United Nations

I've noticed that several of the very active degree mills are claiming to have an affiliation with the United Nations, and are listed in the "Higher Education Institution Registry".

So I went to that site (http://siu.no/heir), and searched for the phonies (which indeed are there) -- in the course of which I was invited to include "my" university in the listings.

So I filled out the form and submitted it, assuming there would be some process or vetting involved.

But no. If you go to http://siu.no/heir and enter "Totally Fraudulent University" in the search box, you'll find it duly listed and ready to claim its affiliation with the United Nations.

It is also listed alphabetically under United States universities on that site, along with hundreds of regionally accredited schools and some of the bad guys.

Now I need to find out who actually runs this site, and alert them to what is going on, so that good ol' TFU (and perhaps a few others) can be removed.

    Too late, John!

I just received an e-mail from TFU which states, based on your life experience portfolio you have been awarded a chancellorate in theology.

Thanks for facilitating my degree program. ;)

It is simply a form that immediately adds the information to the database. I can't see how it could be considered as anything worthwhile since there is no quality control in place.

Does TFU have a J.S.D. program?

And now someone has added "Kiss My Ass University" to the official list.

And someone else (thank you!) has given me the name of the gentleman with the Norwegian Council on Higher Education who maintains the list. I'll be in touch.

    "Ass" meaning "donkey", right?

Are you you sure that they didn't mean the Liberian Council on Higher Education?

    Hi friends,
To the best of my knowledge, St Linus University or st linus institute of Philippines is an accredited university which has the legitimate right to issue a degree. The university is accredited by CHED if Philippines. CHED accreditation is recognised by CHEA of USA. CHED is found under CHEA quality group.

I am now planning to study one of its programmes. Visit Council for Higher Education Accreditation Home Page .Find out the quality group website where all other countries are listed there. If you click on philippines you would come across CHED listed among the accreditation bodies in the country that are recognised by CHEA.
