I guess the fire's been extinguished.

George Zimmerman's girlfriend wants charges dropped - Orlando Sentinel

George Zimmerman’s girlfriend — who authorities said accused him of pointing a shotgun at her — no longer wants him to be prosecuted, and wants to resume their relationship, according a new motion.
A sworn statement made by the girlfriend, Samantha Scheibe, was attached to a motion by Zimmerman’s lawyer seeking to modify the conditions of Zimmerman’s bond in his domestic violence case.

In the statement, Scheibe says she felt “intimidated” when police questioned her about the Nov. 18 incident that led to Zimmerman’s arrest. She adds that she “may have misspoken.”
“I want to be with George,” Scheibe says in the statement, adding later: “I do not want George Zimmerman charged. I make this decision freely, knowingly and voluntarily,” and without coercion, she says.
She says that she and Zimmerman had an “argument,” but Zimmerman “never pointed a gun at or torward my face in a threatening manner.”

Time will tell if it's out or simply smoldering. I'm happy to reserve judgement.

Well he certainly hasn't shown yet that he has very good judgement in a variety of subjects that most of us can get right, that is for sure.

It is so common for men to be falsely accused of domestic violence by three different women, especially in combination with getting themselves into a situation where they would have to shoot an unarmed teenager. (sarcasm) What IS common is women backtracking on wanting to press charges in domestic violence cases. They usually are either afraid of having the person they "love" so much locked up (battered person syndrome) and blame themselves for the incident, losing financial support, or retaliation.

Fals accusations certainly do happen, and happen often. Three times to the same dude? I agree that seems like a stretch for sure, but I would not mock DV instances where women are the agressors. Usually these occur when there are disputes over children or marital assets so in GZ's case it really is hard to tell. Also, regarding the girlfriends signed statement to the police. Does law enforecement always require these types of statements from the alleged victims? Stating that nothing happened and they don't want to press charges?

It is possible his pregnant girlfriend of 4 months is crazy. What other kind of person would hook up with George Zimmerman after all of this? On top of that, he's broke and ugly.

I thought in one article I read, that she is not actually pregnant? That was, surprise, a media mistake. Also, he won't be broke for long once the NBC lawsuit gets settled (Although there wont be much left after his lawyers get their share).

I did a search, and it looks like Zimmerman said in his 911 call that she was pregnant. He claims the argument was about future custody of the child. His girlfriend later on told the police she was not pregnant. TMZ, FWIW, said she faked the pregnancy.

    You're right, now we have

GZ needs to head over to Dicks Sporting Good and max out his credit cards on cold weather gear. Head on up to North Dakota and work his fat ass into shape, in the cold and brutal environment up there. But it would be worth it! No bimbo’s erupting on his lap. No wannabes pulling a gun on him. No cops looking to give him “what for”. I'd say that has to be paradise for him.

If the media report something that they were told then it's not a media mistake. There's no way they can access a person's medical record to learn "the truth." If the woman lied it doesn't mean she's crazy, it just means she's a liar and her credibility will always be questioned.

Not much of anything left if he was truthful with the judge during his bond hearing for the most recent domestic violence charge:

    1) The attorneys are going to take about 30% of his winnings.
    2) If he has punitive damages awarded to him (which would probably be the bulk of any big payout), the IRS considers that taxable income. IIRC, the only part that wouldn't be taxable by the IRS would be the amount allotted strictly for emotional distress (check with an accountant/tax attorney on that one). Figure another 30-40% of what is left goes to the tax man.
    3) In court, Zimmerman says that he is $2.5 million in debt. Assuming that he was not lying to the court, he would need a award of $5-6 million JUST to break even and be debt free. Also, keep in mind this is the number that NBC either has to settle for or finally pay out AFTER they have exhausted all of their appeals or the judgement.

After all of that, remember that he is getting a divorce and his wife would most likely be eligible for some (half?) of his settlement.

Remember Richard Jewell and the Atlanta Olympics bombings? He had multiple libel lawsuits from that. One of them was against NBC, because Tom Brokaw went on air and said that the FBI had enough evidence to arrest and prosecute him. When Jewell was COMPLETELY VINDICATED and declared a hero, how much did NBC agree to pay him? $500,000.

It's the media's job to investigate sources, maybe verify from other sources, not just throw shit against the wall and hope it sticks. That's my whole problem with this circus around this guy. The truth is out there (I knew she wasn't pregnant before anyone even started commenting in this thread about this latest "incident"). The media reports what they want to report. Not the truth. Not facts (unless it supports whatever narrative they're after at the time).

Many people want GZ to be guilty of "something". Which is why these threads are always resurrected, just for laughs you should go back and read all the GZ threads. Some of the crap people on this board said just takes your breath away. Some of the stuff that was reported was false, lies, and made up yet many people to this day still believe all of it. Because they want to.

This whole thing was/is and always will be about media, talking heads, agenda pushers, and narrative maker-uppers in my mind. GZ can jump off a cliff for all I care. But the rest of the people out there reporting on it and following where they were lead like kindergartners on leashes...everyone should be as disgusted at this as I am. And it makes me think, how many other stories are made up lies? A few? None? All of them?

Wrap your head around thinking that whatever media source you read and agree with all the time is lying to you and leading you by the nose. That revelation was very sobering to me. I'm to the point where I have serious questions about things I even agree with.

I know what you mean! Because of how ignorant most reporting on higher education is, where I have the expertise to judge it, I no longer believe reporting on matters where I'm not an expert. I mean, why would they be any less ignorant about other things?

Do you know hard it is to question everything? Hell, I don't even want to do it at this point! So you are telling me that higher education media and journalist get it wrong. Well guess what, I've had military friends point out where the media gets military stuff wrong. You should have seen what I learned from about 2004-2006 about so called recruiting shortages, demographics of people serving and dying and all this other stuff that was swirling around the wars. Mind boggling.

So now, I have confirmed military gets reported incorrectly more often than not, you say higher education more often than not, and I can see through my own experience that GZ people get it wrong. Like you said what else is wrong too?

    Ick.
