Zimmerman really a closet firefighter?

Race is an illusion. A social construction. (In fact- one of the few times where I don't vehemently disagree with social construction theory.) On such forms, I don't check my race anymore. I'm raceless. I'm just me. For some reason, that jars some people. I once had a man get in my face and call me a "cobarde" for not identifying myself as anything other than "estadounidense." Others get confused when I tell them I'm raceless, and frustrated when I concede a little bit and admit that "my father was born in..." and "my mother's family is from..." but don't directly say that I'm anything myself.

As human beings, we want to categorize, compare and contrast. To refuse racial identity comes off to many as absurd and inconceivable.

Have you seen on ancestry.com where you can give them a DNA sample (saliva, I believe) send it in to them and they analyze the DNA and let you know your background that way? It's $99 which puts it out of my range, but it would be fascinating to see which groups everyone would be a part of. I know for sure that my ancestors were peasants sleeping around with anyone who would bed them down. I'm probably about 3% just about every nationality in the northern hemposhpere.

Then think of it as a $99 investment with the return being enhanced scholarship eligibility! :naughty:

Now that's funny, and Autiger can claim his rightful share of the casino. (yeah, that was bad), but what can I say, I profile mercilessly! :)

You know? The one thing I ever wanted anyone to know about this case was the lies by the media. I don't give a flying fuck about GZ, his wife or anyone associated with this case. It was all about the media manipulation, the lies, the doctored photo's, the edited 911 tapes, the witch hunt, etc.

I guess sometimes I feel like I'm the only person that learned a lesson from all this. I don't get what the agenda is on this one?

    Sheesh.

Lake Mary Police are now calling into question several statements Shellie Zimmerman made to 911

Police: Zimmerman wife not pressing charges

I just heard a news report that Ms. Zimmerman is retracting her statement that her husband had a gun during this most recent incident. Or maybe she said that she didn't see a gun, something like that. As if it wasn't already enough of a soap opera . . .

Could you imagine the pressure this guy is under? He was cleared of the last mess and I think it will once more be the case.

Yeah, I have no idea if this guy is guilty of something, innocent of everything etc. but I think what he needs to do is lose some weight, grow a beard, change his name and move far away because it looks like, as it is, his life is over.

This is just a pattern of behavior that started before the Trayvon Martin incident. I don't know why people keep on blaming his behavior on the stress of the trial and publicity.

My general rule of thumb is that I will give you one free run in with the law. Stuff happens, and innocent people sometimes get arrested.

However, if you have repeated run ins, then I start getting suspicious. 3 accusations of domestic violence from 3 different women over the course of 8 years is just too much.

I usually agree, but two of the accusations have turned out to be false. Jury's still out on this third one.

Guy needs to move out of FL, get a personal trainer, change his name and lay low until NBC pays off. Stay away from the women too, seems like he's not real good with 'em.

The guy just has bad luck. There are exterior forces moving against him that are beyond his control. With a little makeover, some weight loss, a new state, a bit of burning incense and sage he should be fine.

Poor innocent George. All these bad things happen to him out of nowhere! What a hero.

You said two turned out to be false. I would make a huge distinction between an accusation being false, and there not being enough evidence to pursue or the accuser dropping the charges. I have known guys who have had FALSE accusations put against them. I have also known guys that have had true accusations made against them, but the accuser did not want to press charges, or there was not enough evidence.

Zimmerman's actions (excluding the Martin incident) just remind me too much of guys I have known in the past. I see only one of two possible options. Either this guy is just predisposed to dating women who later falsely accuse him of domestic violence (the way some women are predisposed to be attracted to abusive guys), or he has some issues with violence/anger management. Those “resisting officer with violence” and “battery of law enforcement officer” charges from 2005 lead me to suspect it is the later.

But hey, it is his life, and ultimately his responsibility on how to handle it. Maybe he will get his stuff together. Only time will tell.
