My wife is nearly finished with her bachelor's and we are shopping around for a distance masters now...of course...like nearly every regular here I have a pretty extensive list of programs but I always miss stuff...so...
If you were interested in Sociology from an administrative POV, policy development, etc. possibly with some kind of environmental perspective...not radical environmentalism, but more realistic, where would you attend?
Her second choice is design/art, etc. How are those for diametrically diverse interests?

    This program must be
    1. Covered by full US federal aid.
    2. Reasonably priced (yes, I know that's subjective).
    3. Hopefully without GRE testing requirements.

    Any thoughts would be appreciated.

If I were interested in the administrative side of sociology (I was at one time) then I'd be looking for an MPA or an MS in NonProfit Management. The MA in Sociology will be a research degree and the MSW (if she's interested in that world) is a practice degree.

As for the arts side - look at Academy of Art University in San Francisco and Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah Ga. Both are very well respected and both have online grad programs. Neither is inexpensive.

    Go for both. :D
