I'd pay for the A.S. I just (hopefully) completed and never take another college class as long as I live.

Mostly I'd be throwing empties off the back of my boat, but I'd still do a doctorate for fun if it didn't get in the way of that. ;)

See, there's a man who knows how to spend a $100 million dollars! Slightly better beer and more of it, oh, and a boat ^-^

I would officially like to concur with that part of the post; however, I'm landlocked, so...it would probably be a paddle boat. Hopefully that will help burn off the calories from all that beer.

I would tell my co-workers where they can go first.

Vacations and school would be my life. I would probably buy a skybox at Troy (lol) and attend every Trojans home game.

it would be ridiculously hard to finish a degree

the first time your professor tells you to write a 10 page research paper and you start to refamiliarize yourself with APA you'd start telling yourself, "I don't need this hassle, screw APA"

the first time you're assigned a group project and one of the other students is a slacker you'd start telling yourself, "why am I doing this? why am I working so hard to get a good grade to make up for his lack of work?"

take an online in archeology ?
or pay $5000 to join an archeological dig in Egypt for the summer and forget about the grade ?

finish your degree in accounting ?
or just tell your accountant and CFA to take care of your money while you go to the Galapagos Islands and scuba dive and photograph wildlife

    it is NO contest
    forget the degree

travel, take cooking lessons, go teach English over seas for a semester, take a course with National Outdoor Leadership School and spend 3 months in India mountain climbing and rafting
    Semester in India

Wow! This post surprised me. I'm currently a plaintiff in a large suit to collect money from a lawsuit. Supposedly the money has already been paid into the kitty but the U.S. Govt is holding up the money and not releasing it. I start at Brandeis on Wednesday. I almost did not enroll because I expect to be paid before the year ends. However nothing is guaranteed. Here is what I would do. I would complete my first PM class at Brandeis. However I will not finish the MS in PM program if I receive the windfall (as long as it's more than $10m after taxes, etc. I think I will then pursue a MS in Taxation instead and maybe become a CFP. I would probably look at attending Fontbonne University on site, or attending Golden Gate U or Bentley online.

I'd finish all of the degrees I'm currently planing to get and then I'd employ minions to collect as many unique history books as they could find.

  10. You know the job market is tough when you apply for the position of "minion".

I would finish my Ed.D. I don't like to leave things half done. Though I think I won't need to use that Ed.D and can retire after getting the degree :)

I retired young and choose to spend my time volunteering and taking classes for fun. I would never major in History if I needed to earn a salary. Next up after this degree is probably something in Maritime Archeology so I can go work on some really cool field school projects. I LOVE learning new things but I also need some sort of a structured format to keep me on track. Left on my own, I'd sit around and wouldn't follow through with the learning goals I have planned for my life.

I would finish just for the satisfaction of it. It doesn't even really matter where really, though I kind of like the B&M backpack lifestyle. I went to a RA B&M for 10 ten years and took everything from Mortuary Science, to the humanities. I enjoyed the "on campus" experience. For several years, it really bothered me that many people don't really think an AA is a "degree". My siblings both had advanced degrees, thus adding to my feelings of inferiority and being "less than". So, thanks to this board, I have accomplished what I set out to do, the attaiment of not only one degree, but an advanced degree to boot. Looking back, I don't think the attainment of vast amounts of money would have made me feel better about the "less than" part of my life. In the dark of night, it would have bothered me to no end, and in my mind, my opinions would not be taken as seriously as my brothers or sisters had I not had the degrees I have today. Sound crazy? Perhaps so, but how many of you deal with these feelings as we speak. Do you really need the degree, or do you just need the satisfication/peace of mind?

So yes, if I won a lot of money, I would still finish a degree. please forgive any typos or grammar errors, I write/post here for enjoyment.

    Abner :)

I definitely know what you are talking about Abner; however, I hope that the feelings will go away when I get my A.S. degree. They may not, I could be back for more before I know it.

I've listened to one of my co-workers tell me I need a bachelor degree for years. He also talks all this attends a big-name college to stand out crap. He makes sick with all his mess.

I feel perfectly fine with my AAS and trade school certificates, but I want a bachelor degree for me.

I thought that for many years, hell, I went to an RR CC for ten years, so I studied just about everything under the sun. My rationale was, heck I went to school longer than someone with a 4 year degree. But, in the still of night, it nagged and nagged and nagged at me almost to the point of obsession. I had to get a B.S. for my own sanity. Thank God for this board! Abner was born. :)

As long as it is for you, you will be happy. I know I my life has changed!

Attend a big name college to stand out? And what, end up in debt? No thanks, I'll take my debt free degrees any day baby! I have done pretty well with my NA degree! :) Attitude is everything. Check out my ride in the "off Topics" section name "This is how Aspen grads roll"!
