CSLB is hiring a ton of adjuncts right now, many for online programs/courses if anyone is interested.

I find it interesting the tuition and fee charges

    2010-2011 Tuition and Costs
    Tuition
    $26,342

    Room and board
    $8,274

    Subtotal
    $34,616

    Other costs to consider*

    Books & Supplies (estimated)
    $1,638

    Transportation (estimated)
    $792

    Personal expenses (estimated)
    $2,250

    Loan Fees
    $0

    Total Cost of Attendance $39,296

That means that your daughter is getting around $2k in scholarship money. That isn't much to speak of.

As far as the AA degree is concerned the credits should be transferable from the city college, assuming that the credits are in academic areas and aren't remedial.

She actually got a bigger scholarship than that, so maybe I have the numbers mixed up somehow. Now matter, it's still extremely expensive; much more expensive than UCI, and a lousy educational value in general.

It isn't surprising considering what is happening to the California Higher Education system and the national economy. Many students are applying to public schools who might have considered private schools.

I see that it is often cheaper to go to 2-year schools. There is therefore an increase in applications there too.

Yes, there is such a rush to higher education and such a glut of students going for bachelor's degrees that I'm afraid that they will become almost worthless to the point where a master's degree is required for even the most mundane jobs. Degree creep.

This is what motivated me to continue on to the MBA.

Not in my book, having cousins and friends graduate from different institutions with upwards of $80,000 in debt I feel he is doing what a good dad would do, look out for his daughter. With the economy being what it is, there is absolutely no good reason for incurring any type of massive debt. For a teaching degree at that! Pretty soon a reasonably priced online school is going to be the only way to go. Just my two cents.

Thank you for that. I would be ashamed if I allowed my kid to rack up huge debt and have to bear that burden when it is not necessary.
