Which religion is the right one for you?

    Interesting quiz...

    My results:

"You scored as Hinduism. Your views are most similar to those of... Hinduism! Do some research on Hinduism and possibly consider becoming Hindu, if you aren't already."

    I got this.

    "You scored as agnosticism.

You are an agnostic. Though it is generally taken that agnostics neither believe nor disbelieve in God, it is possible to be a theist or atheist in addition to an agnostic. Agnostics don't believe it is possible to prove the existence of God (nor lack thereof). Agnosticism is a philosophy that God's existence cannot be proven. Some say it is possible to be agnostic and follow a religion; however, one cannot be a devout believer if he or she does not truly believe."

I think it is right. That´s probably how I see it. :)

    Could it be... Satan?

Agnosticism, 88%. Not surprising, as I self-identify as this.

More surprising was the 75% I got for Satanism. I didn't realize the methodology of the quiz included weighing the opinion of my ex-wife....

Steve, that is too funny! :D

I scored 96% for agnosticism, no surprise there. What intrigues me is my next highest score of 58% for Islam; maybe I've settled into my home here more than I realized! :)

    Cheers,

A little bit of everything - Universal maybe Baha'i:)

    You scored as Judaism.

Your views are closest to those of Judaism. If you are not a Jew, do more research on Judaism and possibly consider becoming one; however, realize that conversion to Judaism is difficult. Judaism was the first of the Abrahamic faiths; it precedes both Christianity and Islam.

    What the???

This is what I got and I am screaming

Your beliefs most closely resemble those of Satanism! Before you scream, do a bit of research on it. To be a Satanist, you don't actually have to believe in Satan. Satanism generally focuses upon the spiritual advancement of the self, rather than upon submission to a deity or a set of moral codes. Do some research if you immediately think of the satanic cult stereotype. Your beliefs may also resemble those of earth-based religions such as paganism.

They're not insulting you. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Satanism for more on it. They're basically just calling you an individualist. Good for you!

But if God's existence cannot be proven to you, doesn't that make you an atheist? If God's existence cannot be proven, isn't his nonexistenece what one really believes?

Just making the point that Huxley's tri-chotomy breaks down into a dichotomy. "Agnosticism" is really a polite myth, intended not to offend believers nor to please atheists by explicit accord.

I once attended a unitarian group in Salt Lake City, but what offended me was their lack of embrace of the courage of their convictions - denial was politic. And that is the lot of the agnostic - the failure to embrace the courage of one's convictions boldly and straightfowardly.

I don't see how that follows. Just because you can't prove something necessitates that you believe it doesn't exist?

Not necessarily. Absence of evidence is not necessarily evidence of absence. In fact, I find that athieism is just as faith-based a position as any religion.

Or maybe it's not designed around the feelings of others, but really just represents its own genuine worldview.

Oh, please. How can admitting one doesn't know something that is inherently unknowable be cowardly?

I am certain that my comments are going to offend...I apologize in advance.

The notion that a religion can "be right for you" is a falacy in and of itself. Either a religion is right or it is wrong. Perhaps the question should be, "Which set of beliefs do I feel most comfortable with?" The premise of the quiz essentially allows you to create your religion based on your feelings...feelings that may change from day to day or over some period of time. Most religions (not all) claim one truth...whether you believe that truth or whether that truth feels good to you is irrelevant. Truth is truth...it is objective, not subjective. I took the quiz and scored Christianity 75%...no surprises. As a Christian I can tell you that many of my personal desires...some things that feel good to me, would likely have scored me as a pagan or a satanist. That said, what I believe is not driven by personal feelings or desires.

It is a fun little quiz though!

Certainly didn't offend me. I wonder who they would offend.
I must admit that strikes me as a rather quaint assertion.
    Ah. Got ya.
I can't help but think you're fooling yourself on this point. :)

Jah rastafari selah! They could be right....

Not me. Each one is, after all, either theologically right or wrong. It just means that of all the religions in the world, only one of them at most can possibly be right.

Given that, and since none of them jump out as being the obvious right one, I'm left to assume that the number of correct religions is one less than that. I could be wrong, sure.

Having said that, that doesn't mean that no religion has anything to say that's worth considering. The Christian message of love is worth hearing even if all those tenets of the Nicaean Creed are discounted (and even if many Christians themselves seem to need a refresher on it).

Judaism was not technically the first of the Abrahamic faiths. Judaism really belongs to Ezra ca. 450 BCE. The earlier Israelite religion was not the same as Judaism and still survives in isolated pockets in the Red Sea area. The original law of Moses is still retained by these groups, who say that the Queen of Sheba brought it there from Solomon. This Sheba Torah is much kinder than the Jewish one. There is nothing about hating Moabites or paying dues to venal priests in temples. It could be described as community based, respectful of nature, and pacifist. A recent book lists this Torah and shows which bits were added later under Hilkiah and Ezra. See the relevant publishing house

I thought this was a badly-written survey all around. For one thing, "agnosticism" isn't a religion - more of a philosophical view. Secondly, why was "disagree" weighted the same as "N/A"?

    agnosticism 75%
    atheism 58%
    Satanism 58%
    Buddhism 58%
    Islam 46%
    Hinduism 46%
    Paganism 46%
    Judaism 21%
    Christianity 17%

I do call myself agnostic, but I disagree with the high percentage of atheism. To me, the claim that there absolutely is no God is as restrictive and unimaginative a box as the claim that there absolutely is one.

For a better-worded quiz, IMHO, you might be interested in Beliefnet's religion quiz.
