I will be completing my MPS in PR/Communications at Georgetown in August, 2010. I’m contractually bound to my job until the very end of 2010. At that time, I’m looking to switch jobs. So, naturally, I’m thinking I can use the period between Georgetown and the New Year to gain a new credential to aid in my job hunt and enhance my skill-set. I have 11 years experience in the communications/PR world (mainly gov) and I’m looking to continue my career in the same industry, but maybe within an agency. FYI, I’m going for my PMP this Jan/Feb; so, that’s out. Ultimately, I want an MBA. What I should do? A certificate program? Just start an MBA? Go for the Certified Professional Marketer credential? Take a break? Thanks!
For what it's worth, I went with a Six Sigma Black Belt from ASQ after finishing my PMP. There is a lot of overlap between the two as well. I'm not sure how well that would fit into your line of work though...
