And don't forget Columbia University which also has a M.S.O.R. If you can afford the tuition its hard to beat an Ivy League reputation.

The aforementioned OR degree in the UK is from the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow. It's a really interesting set of courses and might be what you're looking for - it's essentially applied mathematics with a specialty in business problems. Really good stuff.

Here's a site that lists OR degrees worldwide. Doesn't break the DL ones out, but you can find them with a little browsing.

If I didn't already have an OR Ph.D., I'd look seriously at approaching Lancaster and seeing if they'd let me study Discrete Optimization part-time under Adam Letchford. 4 out of his last 5 papers have been published in Mathematical Programming, one of the top 2 or 3 journals in the field. Then again, he could have a monster personality :)

Yes, that was the one I was referring to, Strathclyde. Yes, it is a VERY nice program. That´s the type of study I would love to follow, a nice mixture of operations research and simulation courses in depth, and business applications. They don´t make distinctions between EU/UK and overseas students, and as a result it is a little pricey since they assume your employer pays. Maybe it is a wink to AMericanstudents. I am not too sure about the applicability of these studies in the real world so I find hard to justify to spend € 12,000.

    Regards

PS Pugh, one of the fathers of quality engineering together with Taguchi, was a Professor for many years at Strathclyde. It has to be a great place. But then again, who knows how it ranks in those Times reviews.....
