I need to watch more movies! I’m a Disney gal, but I enjoy comedies and romances. My all time favorite movie series is “Pirates of the Caribbean.” I’m OBSESSED. :emoji_heart_eyes:

What do you think is the best movie you’ve ever seen?

The Matrix, hands down, is the best movie I've ever seen. It just hits on all the levels that are important to me.

But I'm another vote for Casablanca. It really is that good.

The Good, The Bad and the Ugly

For 3 reasons: Atmosphere, atmosphere, atmosphere!!!

Also, the compelling characters, pacing, dialogue, suspense, and humor all play a role in my enjoyment of it.

Terminator 2. If you look at it with an open mind, it is so much more than a simple action flick!!

Of his movies, I prefer Total Recall. But they're both great.

I have a difficult time picking the movie I like best. All movies mentioned in this thread are great.

They are. Do you think he is really on Mars the whole time - or do you think it is all a dream?

I think that unresolved ambiguity is the most satisfying possible ending.

My overall favorite movie is The Martian. I dont know if its the best movie ever, but I watch it whenever I'm feeling down and it always makes me feel good.

For romance in particular, another Matt Damon movie is number one: The Adjustment Bureau.

If you've never read the book by Andy Weir, it's a great one. And another of his books, Hail Mary, is also coming out as a movie soon, and I'm really looking forward to it because that book was even better.

I've read it in both English and French. It is fantastic! I haven't read Hail Mary but it looks like something I'd like. Thanks for the recommendation :)

This weekend I rewatched Passengers. Chris Pratt stars as a mechanic on a mostly-automated ship taking a 120-year interstellar voyage when he wakes up 90 years early from suspended animation. Good sci-fi and philosophical elements.

Yep. One comment was that it lets look "The Day After" like "A Day at the Races". And I think it is true.

Let's derail the thread, pun intended. What is the best book to the film you ever read? "The Martian" is a good bet, but I will go with "First Blood" (David Morrell) and "Nothing Lasts Forever (Die Hard)" (Roderick Thorp) nevertheless!

The Lord of the Rings trilogy was among the best.

The Hobbit trilogy (?!) was among the worst.
