Are you currently a practicing artist? A strong portfolio and a local reputation might be more persuasive to an employer than college credits, especially if you already have the teaching certifications.

I'd say that the most affordable college art credits are probably going to be at your local community college. Community colleges often have very good studio art classes, taught by local artists instead of career college professors.

While you choose something for credit, you can complete verified certificates through edX in Art. They generally run less than fifty bucks and have an affiliation with a major university.
In addition, Coursera has free art courses that you can assemble into "Specializations" through them, also linked to major universities. There is usually a small cost when you do it that way. https://www.coursera.org/learn/art-activity

You can earn graduate-level credit (prefix EDU) through Annenberg / Learner.org which appears on a Colorado State University transcript. At $100/graduate credit, it's a STEAL. Some of these might fit perfectly on your resume.

    Offered for 1 credit:
The Arts in Every Classroom Library (USD) K-5
The Arts in Every Classroom Workshop (USD) K-5

    Offered for 2 credits:
The Art of Teaching the Arts: A Workshop for High School Teachers 9-12
The Arts in Every Classroom K-5

    EDIT: you'll want the link ;) http://www.learner.org/workshops/graduate_credit.html

Lerner got to this idea faster than me and he went to India while I went to Africa. Specifically, UNISA

I was wondering if they accept foreign students - for the free distance course(s). I know they do accept students from everywhere on campus - and those foreign students pay a higher rate than the locals. What provisions for these free courses via DL - I don't know.

And with all the negative authoritarian kerfuffle surrounding distance-ed in India lately - will a "free" distance degree from this school (or any) be UGC-recognized? On the same terms as one earned on campus?

Perhaps a distance-ed guru from India can enlighten us. We're lucky - we have one.

These courses come out to be a little under $300 per credit hour and are worth graduate credit through Morningside College.
