My favorites are the ones who try to order you around, demanding blankets, extra phone calls, etc.

I do my impression of Judge Smails from Caddyshack; "You'll get nothing, and like it!!!!"

It's not as hard as the gum-and-patch merchants make out, Ted. If I can do it... etc. I quit cold-turkey 33 years ago. Reward: I'm nearly 70, can still run for the bus without breathing hard (never, before I quit) and best of all - now I'm seeing my grandchildren growing up!

When I quit, the only difficulty was -- I couldn't THINK for about a month. Fortunately, I had a job that didn't require it. :) I had a friend who quit at the same time - he used the gum. He never smoked again, but he was a gum-junkie for two years.

Dunno where the money I saved by not smoking went, though... but that wasn't the reason. When I quit drinking some years ago - I decided to save all the money. Good choice. Still adding to it, like clockwork. (One of my few good habits.)

My resolution: No More Mr. Nice Guy! (and I fully realize I never was!) :) Cheers!

    Boy maniac...you really are one

I also term these as "goals" not resolutions. But I think I'm a light-weight compared to Maniac!

    1) In April, take and pass RMA-CRC exam, which is an industry certification
    2) Study for and take all/part of the CMA exam by November
    3) Take a grad-level research methods class or self-study to prep for my doctoral study 4) Pick a research topic for dissertation
    5) Continue to work on PMP classes (I get these free through work and can spend work time on them) as time permits

I decided on the CMA exam instead of the CPA exam or another masters degree. I also want to write a novel and a professional article but those will have to wait, considering that I'm working full time and usually have at least one teaching gig going at a time.

My wife and I quit about 16 years ago and we smoked 5 cartoons a week. We listened to a tape out by R.J. Reynolds (I think) on what to expect to happen to your body as you quit smoking - that was it.
