Westland College

I also attended Westland (Citrus hts), fall of '85. I left after my first semester. I was assured by the financial aid dept. that my student loan would be refunded in full, as my Pell Grant covered the time I attended. Two years later, I was expected to start paying back a loan I had never used, & school records were inaccessible due to the BK & fraud. I have fought this $2,500 loan since 1987. I just received notice that the department of education is going to attempt to garnish me for over $10,000. I'm curious if anyone has ever pursued any sort of legal action.

 

My name is Ken Haines. I attended Westland College in Citrus Heights, CA, as an Electronics Technology student in 1982-1984.
I graduated with a 3.86 GPA and have had a successful career in the computer industry as a result of that education. It has been over a year since you placed this post that I am replying to. thank u very much frank47 for posting the info about Nation College changing its name to National American University and for posting their contact info! I too was in the electronics program Feb. 1985 until Westland closed. then went to National College to finish, graduated in Aug. 1987. i have had the hardest time trying to find my transcripts. I called National American University and they do have my transcripts and I can now obtain copies. I randomly came across this thread in a google search of Westland. Thanks again for posting the info!

 

This may be a very old thread, but very interesting and informative. I'm also a former student of Westland College, 6060 Sunrise Vista Dr. Citrus Heights, CA. I was in a two year Computer Science program. The school went down just as I completed the last class and I never received my degree. The only thing I received was the $10k+ student loan debt. Very unhappy the way this went down.

Westland College of Citrus Heights California was a real college offering education and associate degrees in a variety of disciplines from secretarial science to computer science. I graduated in Computer Science while my mother graduated in Secretarial Science.

Westland College was located near sunrise mall in Citrus Heights at the aforementioned address; however they were bought out by National College of Rapid City South Dakota for those who had more work to complete their degree.

 

Wow, really old thread - but I'm still going to ask. I attended Westland College in Citrus Heights and studied Secretarial Science. It was a great place and I learned so much. There were some teachers there who were very unique and I'm wondering if any of you who attended might remember their names. First, the lady who taught Professional Development. Was her name Nancy Hitchcock? Next: the Speech and Public Speaking professor. That guy changed my life and made me an excellent speaker and more. I've been wondering what his name was for so long. He was older then, so I'm sure he's passed. Finally, the very older man who taught shorthand... He was a character for sure. He got so mad when any of us dared say that shorthand might be on the way out. Thanks for any info you can provide.

I was also at Westland College for Computer Engineering in spring of 83. Had to drop out to move to LA to be with my father as he was dying from cancer. Not a fun year. Then I found out that Westland was no more and I still had to pay my loan. Another not fun year.
