I wonder if sites like Wetakeyourclass would make even less credible online education?

It seems that with the proliferation of sites that do your assignments, exams and work, employers would think that pure online degrees are less credible.

What is the opinion of this board?

No question it will negatively impact how online education is viewed. Perhaps moving to proctored tests/exams by official testing centres would help in exposing the fraudsters who make use of these types of services?

Yes, I need help with proofreading my papers here and there; however, I would not pay for someone to take class for me. Why would I pay for somebody to gain knowledge? Even thought I don't make an "A" for class, but at least I have a big "I" (Integrity) in my life.

You all need to remember that every time you post the actual link to such a nefarious service, you improve its Google rank and make it easier for cheaters to find it.

I was trying to make it known, not to help the cheaters ( and they will find it no matter what we do as educators...), but to be a billboard as to what was and is out there.

Proctored exams are a good solution but the problem is that the logistics of this for programs that take students worldwide might be just a nightmare.
For Masters and PhD programs, I would require to publish at least one publication in a peer reviewed indexed journal (e.g. CSI) for a masters and 2 for a PhD. It would be unlikely that places like this have people capable of publishing in peer reviewed journals indexed by a reliable service like Thompson reuters.

A pure course online masters with canned assignments and courses would be an easy target for services like this. One the service has all the assignments and material for one program, they can resell it many times to multiple students. Original and high quality academic work is to me the only way to reduce academic fraud for online learning.

That is you but many would pay for this. Lets say that I am a family man with 4 children with little time to do academic work that cannot ask for a promotion because I am required to have a degree for this, I am sure that I would be willing to pay the 20 to 30K just to get the degree that can help me to make another 20 to 30 K in my job as the return of investment is only one year.

Exactly. Please, everyone, take note. Avoid linking to sites with unscrupulous content, even if you want to discuss them on this board. As much as it is possible, we like to avoid helping out anyone who doesn't deserve it.

I understand, but it is a double-edged sword. You may talk discuss them, just as we have discussed and derided MUST "University" ad nauseum, but pretty, pretty please don't post any links. It's more than just free advertisement, it is a powerful search optimization method. DegreeInfo seems to have great influence over Google rankings.

Perhaps - but if you look at exam test centers such as Prometric that are many places, or proctoru (no idea how the latter is - google gave it to me) where someone is paid to proctor you via your webcam should help in reducing the number of cheaters.

When I entered IT back in the early 90s, I beat out a stack of resumes because I had hands-on knowledge but no certs/degree... someone with an undergrad was "oohed" although we all know that theoretical knowledge does not even come close to practical knowledge. Perhaps we'll see a shift back to that?

(Smart companies still bring in those who can perform, not just those who have a piece of paper that says they can do something (too many braindump sites out there with people cramming so they can pass an exam yet are entirely unable to perform simple tasks which form the basics.))

Many moons ago I did a research paper for a friend at a well reputed BM university in Texas. He received a grade of 92 for "his" paper. He was appalled and dismayed that he had received such a "low" grade. Well that was the end of our friendship and a huge life lesson for me. Anyways, if someone wants to cheat they'll do so whether it's DL or BM.

Some credit for the DETC here, since their schools generally require proctored final exams.
