A senior American official told that a deal has been reached to release hostages and a ceasefire in Gaza.

Israeli officials estimate that the ceasefire and implementation of the hostage deal will begin on Sunday - three non-soldier hostages will be released. On the seventh day of the agreement, four additional non-soldier hostages held by Hamas will be released. After that, three more Israeli hostages will be released every seven days, with priority given to the release of women. By the 42nd day of the ceasefire, all 33 hostages in the first phase of the deal - the living and the dead - will be released.

The details of phases two and three of the deal will be finalized subsequently,
There will be an increased flow of aid into all parts of Gaza, the rehabilitation of hospitals and health centers, and the return of displaced Gazans.

Are the radicals in Bibi's government pulling their support for Bibi like they threatened?

There is a new sheriff in town.
It seems there's a shift in the political landscape. A "new sheriff" (Jan 20th), prioritizing peace over war and the promised opened gates of hell, means to all sides involved, so tensions remain high, and the situation could escalate for all sides involved.

The general sentiment suggests that elections may be looming as the political dynamics continue to evolve.

I do like how Israel cut the legs out from under Iran, when Israel destroyed their super fancy "impenetrable" missile defense system. Blowing up the pagers then dancing into Hezbollah's home turf and crippling their war readiness was also very nice.

And now put aside the theater of terror that is
Hamas and take a good look at this picture
because you will see 4 Israeli women, 4
heroines, one still a teenager, who survived the
brutal captivity of a barbaric terrorist
organization for over 15 months in Gaza under
conditions that are unimaginable. Despite it
all, they stand proudly and confidently in front
of hundreds of terrorists and thousands of
    'uninvolved" Gaza residents who support
    Hamas
Daniella, Karina, Naama and Liri, you are a
source of national pride, and the fact that you
are returning home is our sweetest victory!
They choose death, we choose life!
    The people of Israel live.

Surely this will bring down the price of eggs.

The pandemic and inflation play a role in rising egg prices, but the real culprit is an outbreak of H5N1, a highly transmissible and fatal strain of avian influenza, or bird flu.
We should see the price normalizing in couple of months.

So it will go away by Easter?! I feel like I heard this story before…

I assume that NotJoeBidden is fully aware of the bird flu problem. I think he was just make fun of Trump's promises to lower egg prices and grocery prices. Trump has even since basically admitted that he was full of it when he was making those promises during the campaign.

The tread is not about the eggs.
But Bidens and Trump's effect on hostage release deal and ceasefire in Gaza.
Hamas wanted to conquer Jerusalem - a year
and a quarter after that they are celebrating a
"victory" in the return of the Gazans to the
destruction of the northern Gaza Strip.

While true, I enjoy attempts at humor even when they're not the funniest jokes.

Getting back on topic, I'm very pleased with the ceasefire and return of hostages. I hope that Gaza can be rebuilt without reconstituting Hamas. It will be a difficult road to navigate.

Great, I’ll get back on topic then.

Remember, Israel said no to multiple previously agreed to ceases fire agreements. They finally said yes to the ceasefire once all of Gaza was flattened. This destruction is from American bombs launched by Israel. Palestinians have nothing left to go back to.

Gaza was poor. Now they are far worse. Many (most?) folks lived in high rise apartments. The pictures that I've seen indicate that those have almost all been flattened. You're right that they have nothing to go back to. They're at the mercy of whoever agrees to help fund the rebuilding. I suspect Qatar, Saudi Arabia will likely help fund them. I'd like to see the USA get involved in the rebuilding to try to minimize any advantage that Hamas might take of the situation. Worst case would be for Qatar and Saudi Arabia to give money directly to Hamas. Hamas would use that money primarily for themselves and the Palestinian people secondarily.

I note that Qatar and Saudi Arabia are not fond of Iran and Hamas is very aligned with Iran.

Hamas is the symptom of a larger problem of Israel’s violence against Palestinians. Until that violence and oppression are stopped, terrorist groups will come and go.

I agree with the general sentiment.

It must be kept in mind though that not all Israelis share the same attitude toward Palestinians. There are Israeli parties that are much more tolerant of Palestinians than other Israeli parties. The current Israeli government is made up of the worst of those parties.

A big problem in Israel right now is that the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7 has significantly moved a lot of Israelis more to the right against the Palestinians. It also hasn't helped that Netanyahu has been bad mouthing Palestinians because that strengthens his position politically. It's a political mess.

There's basically zero chance of that now. USAID has ground to a halt and aid contractors are already being laid off.
