I just came accross this today, I had no clue UOP was ACBSP accredited

It appears that ACBSP doesn't know about it either. The ACBSP membership list shows University of Phoenix as a "Current ACBSP Educational Institution Member", but it appears to be an unaccredited member.

Newbies may need help re: this "Kingdom of Confusion" ......

'scuse me, but what gives here?

CHEA states that UoP Business is accredited by ACBSP? while ACBSP website answers "No" to the question, "UoP Business accredited?"

What gives? Who is higher (or, at least, supposed to be) on the credibility food chain?

Would it not be reasonable for one to expect that a webpage with a later data revision date would have more up-to-date info (or be "more" correct) than an earlier one, as in the fact that ACBSP's website info has "ACBSP Update, Fall 2005" while CHEA's data date states " Last Modified: 6/23/2005 ?"

A million PWU-accumulated and unaccredited (thus, worthless) pesos for a satisfactory explanation (short of error) to account for the situation wherein CHEA says "Yea!" when ACBSP says "No!" to UoP Business accreditation (not mere membership).

    UoP vs. AACSB

UoP's accreditation page does not mention ACBSP, but it does discuss UoP's relationship with AACSB, another business school accreditor. Here's what UoP says about its relationship with AACSB:

So it seems quite possible that UoP could have a similar relationship with ACBSP.

If UoP is in fact ACBSP-accredited, as suggested by the CHEA database, then they don't seem to be acknowledging it.

The CHEA database also appears to be unable to distinguish between candidacy and accreditation.

An example is California State University - Channel Islands. CHEA claims

while WASC states that it has candidate status.

(Note that the CHEA's accreditation message for a fully WASC accredited university does not change)

I called and talked to someone at the ACBSP, they said that UOP had applied for accreditation a year ago, but withdrew their application; so it seems CHEA is wrong.

I didn't think they were, I would have seen something on the UOP intranet.

The odd thing is if CHEA is showing UOP as accredited by ACBSP, and they are just a member, it should be the same for AACSB right? wrong....

    I don't get it....
