Not quite two years. I joined in January 2002, but the first post in this thread was November 2003. :)

Within that 2 year period I took about 6 months off or so in total, due to moving to our new house, my father passing away, etc.

I'm glad I'm finally done. Our first baby is on the way and due in January! ANd now I don't have to worry about this nagging degree :)

As far as the MBA goes, I will most likely go with the Ellis/NYIT MBA - although I'm not sure when I'll actually start.

    Cheers.

    ... and thank you!!!

Your "CLEP Oddysey" encouraged me to get off my lazy butt and take some CLEPS. :)

I'll hopefully be finished with my BS next summer....

Wish you the best of luck with your family, career and future distance learning!!

What a great time in your life as well. I have two young girls 4 and 2. I’m sure you will find fatherhood a VERY rewarding stage in your life.

    Congratulations!!!

I just wanted to add my voice to the chorus of praise. Like many others here, I find your story very inspiring.

Before I found DegreeInfo, I had despaired of ever finishing a degree. I figured I was too old and my finances were in too bad a shape to ever have a chance of being anything but a dropout and failure. But the forums here, and your tale in particular, have encouraged me to join the forum (twice, actually -- the first confirmation email went astray somehow) and begin planning to finish my bachelor's and go on to a Master's degree!

Rock and Roll! Your's was one of the first posts I read when I came here and I've followed it ever since. It was a fascinating journey. I'm glad you got through the slump and finished. Congratulations! :D

Unixman - I've been looking at your oddessey thread for so long (it seems) that I didn't realize that you had actually finished.

    Congratulations!!!

Take a break (at least a couple of weeks) and then tell us about your next step. ;)

In any case, I hope you'll stick around and help guide others who have similar ambitions.

    Congratulations! And thanks for degreetracker.com!

I thought about the Ellis MBA, especially since my company gets a discount on the tuition. It turned out to be a bit too long and expensive for my needs, but it definitely looked interesting.

Congrats! It is a great accomplishment. I have yet to take any CLEPs, but I will hopefully get off of my butt and take the ones that I need. I guess I have been postponing it because I was waiting for the Semester II 2005-06 courses to be published at my university. Since all of the brick-n-mortar classes that I must take are available and not conflicting, I will certainly be able to graduate in May if I pass the necessary CLEPs/DANTEs/Excelsior exams... and write a PLA for either their Cisco courses, or get them to give me elective credit for my MCSE.

I do not know what I am on too next, but it will either an MBA, a JD, or a joint JD/MBA. All of them will be at a traditional institution, but they are well ranked, nationally, for each.

I will have 94 credits at the end of this semester, and at least 106 at the end of next semester. I have six exams to take (CLEP: Humanities, Princ. of Macro, Princ. of Micro, and Natural Sciences; DSST: Princ. of Finance; Excelsior: Statistics), and seven information systems credits to fulfill as electives (via portfolio, either eight credit for showing competency of semesters 3 and 5 of the Cisco Academy, or getting them to accept my MCSE). So, with my actual credits and exams, I will have 126 credit hours, and either seven or eight credits for PLA... giving me a grand total of 133 or 134 credit hours, well over the requirement of 124. Then I have to take either the LSAT or GMAT this winter so that I can at least get admitted into law school or the MBA program. If I decide to do both, I will only worry about law school first, as I can do up to 60 credit hours in law school before I decide to do the joint program.

    way to go Unix

Wow. I'm working full time and going for my degree in Information Systems at Fordham University in NYC. I took the CLEP MicroEconomics and passed with 61/80.. I was surprised that it was that tough..My next CLEP exams are Introductory psychology, american literature, calculus, marketing principles and money and Banking(DSST)..As with many traditional 4 yr private colleges, they have very restrictive policies toward these exams, so u need approval before u sit one. Well i saved $1700 and hope to subtract another $10000 from my tuition bill. Anyone presently studing for CLEP Psycology.please respond.

    Re: way to go Unix

I passed CLEP Psych a few months ago. Get the GRE Psych book and you'll be all set. I studied that book for about 2 weeks and scored a 69.
    Good luck.
