Which university is better for a phd/psyd?
    Which has a better reputation?
What are the advantages and disadvantages of the three?
Univ of the Rockies seems to have the least amount of information... or reviews... what does everyone think of this university??

Horror stories for any of the three schools???

I would like to work in the federal government... I know I do not need this degree but I think it would help with promotions... does it matter which school I attend?

Degrees often don't matter for promotion unless there is a positive education requirement. However, a degree can be of benefit (or mandatory) in meeting intial position requirements.

While it shouldn't matter what school you attended for meeting basic requirements, regionally (locally) the school can make a difference depending on which school the hiring official matriculated at, or graduated from, if all other aspects are equal (rarely are candidates equal).

For my .02, Walden has the best reputation, followed by Capella.

I work FT for one of the larger for-profit online universities, and I don't believe I've ever heard of the U of the Rockies (which may or may not mean much...)

    agree with "racechick8293"

Go with Walden; UofRock gets the bottom score.

I can say that Walden ( my wife is almost ABD there) is tough. My goodness. She spends at least 2-3 hours a day online with posts, papers and projects. They have worked her. The networking up at the residencies are top notch. Now, I can only speak for Walden. I maybe jaded.

I am in a masters program at University of the Rockies and I think Otis a great school. It's especially great for getting promotions as UoR programs are geared towards the business world, not for careers in academia or clinical work. They do have a brick and mortar school though, and they have clinical psychology and counseling programs there. But if you are after a promotion, my own opinion is any regionally accredited PhD would be what you need. Walden, Capella, and UoR are all great. It's not as if you would apply for a job with a Capella degree and HR says, "Gee, I wish he would have graduated from Walden." Online degrees seem to have similar reviews as long as they are regionally accredited. You are not competing against other online schools....your competion is graduates from land-based schools because the perception is that land-based schools are better. Online PhDs are great for personal growth, promotions, credentials as a business owner or private practioner and licensure. You also can teach college with masters and doctorate, although tenure-track positions at universities have lots of applicants from land-based schools. I think you would be fine with any of the three schools listed. UoR offers six-week classes which gets you finished more quickly. They are all around the same price. You should check out Grand Canyon Universitys oine doctorates too (www.GCU.edu).
