As well as thye International Irish Uni, The "Uni of Cambridgeshire" has been in the news in Malaysia see

the best bit is "An online university being investigated for dubious activities has “written assurances” from the Higher Education Ministry and Public Services Department (PSD) that its degrees are recognised.........Ministry sources confirmed that approval for its “short courses” had been given a few years back, and the university was using the documents as proof of general recognition of the institution"

So they cant trash it basically. Too much loss of "face". So degreee mills "Malaysia Boleh!" (Malaysia can do!) as the say over here
