Does anyone know anything about Argosy University (Originally known as University of Sarasota) along the lines of their D.B.A. in Management? And, how well accepted is their Doctoral Programs in the Academic Arena?

All that I know is that they are regionally accredited. Any insights/opinions will be very helpful.

How ironic that you asked about Argosy University because while driving past the University of Sarasota (earlier today), I noticed that the signboard out front has been changed to read, "Argosy University."

I do not know a lot about Argosy University, but someone else will chime in with some pertinent information. However, I can write about the University of Sarasota a little bit (as I'm in Sarasota, Florida).

The University of Sarasota has changed names a couple of times. It was originally located in California and was under a different name (I don't remember the name). They changed their name to "The University of Sarasota" and concurrently built a campus (or "classroom" is more appropriate) in Sarasota, Florida.

This past summer, a saleswoman at the University of Sarasota told me that Argosy University was buying them out (this has now happened). She said it would be good for the University of Sarasota because Argosy University is the largest private university in the United States.

She also said that if you have an accredited bachelors degree, then you can enroll in their doctorate in education, which is 60 credits long. As default, you are awarded a masters degree along the way to the masters degree. I do not know if anything similar will be offered for the D.B.A.

I did managed to obtained information about Argosy University’s DBA program.

Cost of Tuition: $26,800. Compared to: Nova: $37K Waden: 42K Union 44K, (Great Schools).

The school does not consider itself to be an inter-net university such as Walden and U of Ph. Their courses can be completed by independent study, which is closely supervised by a monitor, (Similar to Walden’s program) and there is a (8) eight-week residency requirement that needs to be satisfied prior to graduation.

I did a quick search on Google “DBA” Argosy University, and I was surprised to have noticed that many graduates are teaching at small and large universities such as University of South Florida and FIU, School of Nursing. This is not Harvard or Stanford, but it appears to be a school that I may look into, since my employer does not cover tuition for Inter-net Colleges/Universities related courses/degrees.
