    It took a week...

    " Dear Student

I refer to your proposed registration for the 2004 academic year.

Please urgently fax an application for exemption to 012-4294150 and submit proof of your age (identity documents). You must also use your student number and submit an online application indicating the modules you wish to register for. Also note that since you qualify for a age exemption your registration for 2004 first semester is restricted to only 2 modules."

Geezers can't be trusted with a full load no doubt. This was news to me or I missed it. Good they mentioned it.

I had already fugured out the steps but it felt all warm and cuddly hearing it from a human being.

However they haven't yet answered my concerns about writing exams in a nieghbouring country. So their concern is to get me into the system not to answer any questions I might have (and certainly do) about suitability and potential problems.

'We take the distance out of distance education' is their motto. Really?

Also, I see that many of their courses are year modules rather than semester modules. They don't give more credit, they just take twice as long. Why art and religion should take more time than literature I don't know. But so it is. So now I have a whole new consideration - taking year modules is not time efficient.

You could take more modules if you get a matriculation exemption (not from Unisa but from South Africa's Joint Matriculation Board). That may take a little while though. I had to get one myself some years ago.
