    Hello!

Interested in pursuing a MA in linguistics, but probably need some regionally accredited distance learning undergraduate courses to prepare for graduate level study. Hoping for something at a public university for affordability purposes.

    Perhaps courses involving:
    • Syntax
    • Phonetics
    • Phonology
    • Semantics I
    Thanks in advance !

Are those to improve your admissions chances, or are they just for your personal preparation? If the latter, there is just about every course you could ever want available for free via MIT's opencourseware: https://ocw.mit.edu/courses/linguistics-and-philosophy/. If the former, graduate linguistics admissions don't typically require any prerequisites and will care more about your overall academic and professional record. (bonus if you know more than one language!)

Unfortunately, it's harder than it used to be to find undergrad linguistics courses online because while some schools used to offer them, they eventually realized that it wasn't a big money-maker for them and took them down. Most linguistics courses I'm aware of are either a part of an applied linguistics (for teaching and translating) or communicative disorders (for speech language pathology) programs.

Now, why is all that info relevant? You'll find situations like the ones here:

    https://www.ashford.edu/online-degrees/online-courses/linguistics-courses

    https://my.enmu.edu/web/cdis/course-rotations-and-suggested-course-of-study

Ashford has courses that cover the topics you're looking for, but not necessarily separated into the specific course subjects you listed, and not with matching course names (if that matters). ENMU has a single course that covers both phonetics and phonology, as opposed to the separate courses you seem to be looking looking for, and has a different course prefix (CDIS) than typical linguistics courses. Those are just the two examples that first come to mind, but the situation is very similar across the board.

I can try to look around a bit for you, but I'm not sure if there are too many options out there that are different from what those two links offer. I'd be rather excited if I, or someone else, could prove myself wrong here!

    Thanks for all the replies!

Not to improve admission chances. Yes, for personal preparation.

MIT OpenCourseware might fit the bill (it certainly fits the price!). I suppose I technically don't need the undergrad academic credit per se, but more the knowledge, to be prepared for grad level coursework in that subject.

    Will also check out UI.

Looking more towards computational linguistics than applied linguistics or communicative disorders.

Again, thanks for all the suggestions!
