    It's a country, not a country club.

Majoritarian rule is an important check on authority, but it's not the be all and end all of society. For a majority to tell a significant minority, no, you can't hire who you want, you can't associate with whom you want, you can't have the guests you want, that's not a free society.

What about minority and disaspora voices who are opposed to mass migration and its effects? "Significant minorities" (in the UK, Canada and the U.S.) may not even be on board with mass immigration. Wouldn't it be better to test their support level for immigration through a democratic referendum, which would also allow them to speak, instead of having white liberals speak for them?

What about diaspora and minority voices in favor of immigration.

    Whataboutism

No problem. In a democracy, the matter could be settled through a vote.

Various Western countries will have different experiences with immigration. But in Canada, even the left-wing and zelously pro-immigration "Toronto Star" is admitting that the country's immigration system is broken in its opinion pieces. This isn't "whataboutism" rhetoric. It's plain to see for those that want to see it.

Quote: "I grew up in India, trained as a surgeon in Britain and moved to Canada nearly two decades ago. As a physician, educator, father and community member, I have seen immigration enrich communities and transform lives.
I’ve also seen the toll of unchecked expansion: overwhelmed emergency departments, ballooning wait times, a shortage of family doctors, and fraying social trust. These are not abstract concerns — they’re happening in clinics, classrooms, and neighbourhoods across this country."

Only if you totally ignore the point I made about that.

If that was you point, I simply don't buy into this notion of freedom. I didn't mean to ignore your point.

Hitler and the Nazi Party used legal means, such as elections, to gain power, ultimately undermining democracy from within.

Muslim Brotherhood is planing to do/ doing the same.
