    This is a really big deal. Alaska has a hard enough time hiring teachers and has decently low standards to begin with. Surprisingly, schools are very good for the most part. If they are going to be missing out on graduating teachers from within, and very few people are willing to move to Alaska to teach, there could be an even larger crisis coming up soon. I wonder if any of the other University of Alaska schools are impacted?

    No, they're accredited separately:

    "Sandeen says she hopes the state will agree to recognize UAA grads as meeting license requirements. The board could also decide UAA cannot admit any new students to its education programs, but current students could finish their schooling. If the board says no to both options, she says the University of Alaska Fairbanks and University of Alaska Southeast both still have accredited education departments."

    Steve, thanks for pointing that out. Hopefully those schools can funnel students in, and potentially transfer students already in the other program, to keep things moving in the right direction.
