Breaking Up is hard to Do

Those interested in a UK degree should note that there's significant changes taking place. Since this thread is a "sticky", it ought to be kept current. Here's some of those changes as reported in newspapers

Wales Lampeter merging with Trinity University College

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/education/2009/apr/17/lampeter-merge-trinity

The "best" four parts of the University of Wales have withdrawn from it to become independent universities but in "alliance" with each other

    http://www.independent.co.uk/news/education/higher/all-change-in-wales-as-the-big-five-universities-break-away-1695935.html

The University of North London and London Guildhall University merge to form London Metropolitan

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/education/2009/may/19/londonmetropolitanuniversity-higher-education

St George's and Royal Hollyway merge

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/education/2008/oct/01/universitymergers.highereducation

    Big changes recommended

For Business majors, it will also be important to know the 13 British Universities that are AACSB accredited. Most of these also allow External, Distance-ed (limited residency) PhD or DBA:

    Ashridge
    Aston University
    Cranfield University
    Durham University
    University of Glasgow
    Lancaster University
    London Business School
    The University of Manchester
    The Open University
    University of Reading
    University of Strathclyde
    University of Surrey
    University of Warwick

comment from person whose PhD by publication rejected

    http://www.timeshighereducation.co.uk/story.asp?sectioncode=26&storycode=407903&c=2

    see comment from Sara Fletcher

    She sounds a little bitter.

<snip>Having this week heard from the Vice Chancellor at UWE that my own DPhil by publications has failed at Appeal I have a personal investment too. Three years ago, in 2006 I submitted 20 publications and 6000 word commentary exactly according to UWE's regulations.<snip>

BTW, UWE (University of the West of England) is no Camford but it's not South Bank either. It's smack in the middle of the Sunday Times and Guardian's League Tables
