You know, when Trump retweets a GIF that comes close to making light of violence, and your reaction that, because of a book, she "had it coming", the implication invites itself. You probably did not mean it, but you did say it.

Of course it will sell well. It happened before, and it said nothing about what kind of leader he is. But releasing a book will not be "silly", as releasing "The art of the Deal" was not. It was shrewd marketing move and nice money-making endeavor. The latter is important because Trump is nowhere as rich as he implies.

Similarly, HRC got to tell her side of the story, some positive press, more media attention, and TV appearances out of it, along with money that she doesn't exactly need but are not trivial for the Clintons. Win-win-win. And I would argue that the contents of the book show her to be a far better leader than she gets credit for. A small example is how a third of it is dedicated to thanks and praise to her campaign staff. Of course, I'll admit that I am biased on this count, so by all means pick up a copy and read by yourself.

The fact remains that she got almost 66 million votes. I'm sure you do not believe your vote is meaningless, so the same is true for all these people. Less important is this: if you think the popular vote count is a poor statistic for voter preference (and you might be onto something here), it's kind of hard to argue Electoral College votes is a better one.

You're purposefully conflating ridicule with violence to make it sound like something is happening that isn't actually happening.

"Violence" is a word that actually has a pretty clear definition, and it's one that includes harmful physical action. Pretending that it stretches to include hate speech and "micro-aggressions" and childish Internet memes like Trump's is simply inaccurate.

I'll stand by what I said: If Clinton insists on remaining on the public stage then that's her prerogative, but that leaves her a legitimate target for public ridicule by those who think she's ridiculous.

The Electoral College is a red herring. If you really think that a majority of the popular vote confers some kind of legitimacy, then have that be the victory condition from the start, and hold a run off election if no one wins a majority, as happened in 2016.

I for one think spreading memes of women being hit with fast-flying objects is not OK. Especially if you're a superstar with millions of followers; let alone a POTUS. If that does not gel with your "definitions", then you're out of touch.

You're purposefully conflating dumb online harassment with legitimate "ridicule". Katty Griffin's dumb stunt was considerably more meaningful than this juvenile drek. And, to be clear, it is people who think violence against women is OK who'll get the biggest boner from POTUS posting this GIF.

Oh posh. People really think popular vote confers certain legitimacy; that's why this metric is so widely reported (far from just in 2016). Again, Trump knows this. And yes, replacing Electoral College with runoff elections is one way to improve the beast. I believe there are other potential voting systems that'll be an improvement. I don't think it's as important as dealing with campaign finance, gerrymandering and voter suppression, though.

Racialist bigotry makes sense? That's Nazism.

Trump is half German. I am one quarter German. German is the largest bloodline in the US. The US has twice smashed the German armies.

    Damned bigots!

OK, so you only respond when it's about your bloodline, right? I don't remember your comment when me again hurled "blood is thicker than water" clunker on me. Real classy.
