Intersting, I talked to a current NOVA DBA student today and he said they were actively pursuing AACSB and he thought it would happen soon. Anyone with any more information about this?

Copyrighted? Yeah, technically, but you must have damages or it's really a moot point. Say someone writes the Great American Novel and emails the thing to you. They do have copyright protection in it once it's set to type like that, so you'd be in hot water if you disseminated it without permission to turn a quick buck--barring fair use, which even if there were cognizable damages in the case of an email, would derail any suit based on such protections.
Of course, I know what you mean, Dave, it's just a matter of online etiquette. But you know how we lawyers are, we just like to barge right by bthe main point you're making and get into hypertechnical minutae. Anyway...

Did anyone even READ the list of universities at the AACSB site?

Tons of community colleges, yet not ONE Single IVY league school listed.
Who would you rather have a guy with a masters from Capelli University or freaking HARVARD.

Sorry but the AACSB is a complete JOKE. I know this is 1 year later, but the misinformation is bad.

If the school is accreditated by the region its assigned thats what matters. Not some BS thing someone dreamed up 20 years ago and they cant get one single decent school to join.

Touro is in the same WASC as Stanford, USC, and the list goes on. I'd rather have THAT than the no name you all are trying to sell.

Has anyone ever seen a job ad that required AACSB that wasn't a faculty or accounting position?

Yes, but most of these "star" faculty members are just moonlighters at TUI. TUI follows the same strategy of many schools to enroll almost anyone that applies with an impressive resume just to boost their catalog image but the reality is that most of these faculty are adjuncts that are given contracts at demand.

I don't know in detail the requirements to become AACSB accredited but there are some full time faculty requirements that are hard to reach by the for profit schools.

Adjunct faculty is very cheap compared to full time faculty and don't know if TUI would be able to afford too many full time salaries for faculty with PhDs from AACSB accredited schools. According to the AACSB faculty salary surveys, full time faculty members at AACSB accredited schools make 100K-140K contrary to the 2K-3K that most of the online schools pay per course and with no benefits. A full time faculty member at a AACSB schools teaches from 4 to 6 courses a year with research and administration duties included, if you do the math you can see why TUI cannot afford too many PhDs from AACSB accredited schools as this would reduce their profits.

I'm sure that Capella, Walden, TUI and NU have analyzed the possibility to become AACSB accredited but it just cost too much to become accredited. The online adjunct with no benefits model that they use for work force cannot be adjusted to the AACSB accreditation model.

    AACSB profiles;

    Harvard - https://datadirect.aacsb.edu/public/profiles/profile.cfm?runReport=1&unitid=54592&userType=All

    Yale - https://datadirect.aacsb.edu/public/profiles/profile.cfm?runReport=1&unitid=55080&userType=All

    Dartmouth - https://datadirect.aacsb.edu/public/profiles/profile.cfm?runReport=1&unitid=54505&userType=All

    Columbia - https://datadirect.aacsb.edu/public/profiles/profile.cfm?runReport=1&unitid=54493&userType=All

    Penn - https://datadirect.aacsb.edu/public/profiles/profile.cfm?runReport=1&unitid=54833&userType=All

    Cornell - https://datadirect.aacsb.edu/public/profiles/profile.cfm?runReport=1&unitid=54499&userType=All

Brown and Princeton don't have business schools, so EVERY Ivy League school which is eligible for AACSB accreditation does indeed have it.

Try some basic research before making such a ridiculous statement.

    My bet on AACSB

I can tell you that Nova Southeastern is making a significant effort to achieve AACSB. They have had preliminary visits and are completing a significant plan to achieve AACSB.

Will it happen? Nothing is guaranteed - but I'd tell you my bet is that Nova Southeastern is likely to be the only one of the frequently discussed US DL programs (ie NCU, Capella, TUI, Walden, Union) on this board that will actually get AACSB.

While this may raise NSU above the "pack", I don't think this will totally overcome bias in the academic world against NSU and other DL programs.

    Regards - Andy

Hmm... There are Ivy League schools in AACSB.

Besides, why does it matter what Ivy League schools are doing?

They have all that ivy hanging around, which keeps them from seeing the topic clearly. ;-)

Um... WRONG. In the US alone, there is at least one other OFFICIALLY recognized business accrediting body by CHEA. And please, just because AACSB is US-based doesn't mean it has THE final word on the world's best. America is not the center of the universe.

Good luck and keep us posted on how your things go at Chadron (which gets a lot of mention here).

You weren't, by any chance, in Wichita, which prides itself in being "the geographical center of Kansas"? He he. (I visited Wichita State U a year ago, an interesting place...)

I made the same visit in 2007. I was expecting a litlle more than what was there. I also made a visit the world's largest ball of twine on the same trip. I made the trip to Oregon to visit my 49th state and kind of wandered on the way back. I also stopped by Boise State to play on the Smurf Turf (great folks to visit and very accomodating). Such an exciting life.
