Not necessarily the most informative, instructive, enlightening or engaging threads, but the overall most interesting threads.

Of course, since this will be one of the ten, there are only nine to go........................;)

First, I'd like to say that I think this was a great idea and I'd like to thank Russell for creating this thread. It could be quite useful and certainly a lot of fun. JoAnn has actually posted links to specific threads. This too is great however, I went a different route. I decided to see how many threads I'd need to scan in order to remind myself of all the things that have happened at degreeinfo over the past year. Here's what I discovered. If you want to review all the threads that have been started within the past year you'd have to scan
97 pages of threads on the DL forum
7 pages of threads on the IT forum
31 pages of threads on the Off-Topics forum
21 pages of threads on the Acc v. SA v. Unacc forum
10 pages of threads on the Politics forum
I stopped scanning the DL forum about 25 pages in (I've got to go fold some laundry). Here's what I dredged from my memory (sorry, no links)

    1) The thread about George Weah - ultimately it seems that this man's educational credentials (or lack therefo) may have cost him a national election.
    2) Anything about Mark Israel - I still feel very sad about this.
    3) Anything/everything about the fall of the St. Regis group - I continue to look forward to the updates
    4) The announcement of the first (and still the only) MSW program through DL.

That's it for now. Please add on. Links are good.

Any thread begun by me! :D

Seriously, any of the political or religious threads rate at the top of my lists.

Interesting threads? What an excellent thread!

What everyone has said, thus far.

Oh, yes! Do add to the list any and all threads that generated a whopping grand total of 0 (zero) replies. I think I have one (or two) to my credit.

    ;)

    Thanks.

p.s. And yes, Jimmy, your political threads are in a class all by themselves. I enjoyed reading them tremendously. Thanks.

You mean that abominable (!!!) thread on Nancy Grace and Ann Coulter didn't rate as one of the ten most interesting?

I would like to add CCU becoming accredited to Jack's list and then call that list my own. I like the CCU story because it (along with BJU) marked the shift of reputable habitually unaccredited schools becoming accredited.

Wasn't there a thread on Bethany Seminary of Dothan getting accreditation this year? Shouldn't that rate in the top ten?

I would like to add to my list any thread that essentially said
    "I DID IT!!! I'M FINISHED!!!"

I agree. These post and the really helpful ones by unixman, Mark and others are best for helping people to meet their goals.

The funniest threads to me are the ones that people start saying that they have had enough and not posting any longer and then don't make it but a day or two. Cracks me up, heck it is like being hooked on crack I guess. :D

Just can't get enough of this DI stuff. ;)

I would like corrent the errors in my list since I incorrectly attributed the following threads to the wrong people :(

    3. David Boyd instead of Myoptimism
    8. LJinPA instead of Friendlyman

    Sorry about that.

My top 10 list was constructed by looking back over the past year on the Distance Learning Discussions forum and pulling out the threads with the most posts. My methodology had one major flaw. Some of these threads were started in previous years. :(

Oh well... in truth my favorite threads are almost any thread in which the following members post:

    Andy Borchers
    Gregg DesElms
    Steve Levicoff

I really respect the opinions of Andy because they often mirror my own :).

With Gregg, its sort of a love-hate relationship. But, I never have to worry about looking for reading material. Truthfully, I love Gregg's stuff. After he was made a moderator I was afraid his posts would lose some edge. But, I'm happy to say that his wit is as sharp as ever.

And for Steve, well from back in the AED days I have always loved reading his posts. If I were younger I would have to be a groupie of this man. You have to face it -- he is deliciously cruel.

While I certainly do not wish to speak for Steve I might suggest that it's never too late. He might still be willing to accept new applicants to his entourage. ;)

Then hope truly does spring eternal! I'm still waiting for the thread (some thread, any thread) where Gregg and Steve take opposite sides of an issue. If this ever happens, please let me know so I can make popcorn. :D

CCU and BJU were the most frequent examples pointed to by the diploma mill apologists as they went on to try to defend their favorite diploma mill as an unfairly treated unaccredited university.
