I have attached a link that I just came across. It list Colleges and Universities offering distance learning programs. It also gives the Tier and Academic Reputation ranking Please note it is a couple of years old. I was surprised to find that Nova only had an Academic Reputation ranking of 1.7. http://www.paychecks-now.com/college/ebook/collegeAM.html
Ignore with impunity Yes, and that American InterContinental University has a 2.2 on the same scale. AIU higher than Nova Southeastern in academic reputation? Completely ridiculous. -=Steve=-
Nova is "national doctoral" university. AIU... I don't remember, but I guess "regional master's". Completely different rankings.
Re: Ignore with impunity I also noted that Marist was listed as a 1st tier with a 3.1 while IU's Kelley Direct was a tier 4 with a 2.9. I guess I should switch...even NYIT is 2nd tier with a 2.9 Cheers, Mark
It seems clear that there is some question as to these scores. It might be easier to understand if the site listed some sort of criteria. Without this there can be no real understanding of the scores. Jack
The ranking purportedly came form US News and World Report's ranking but American InterContinental University has never been ranked by US News and World Report. According to information from this Website , AIU was described as an unranked college.
It's important to compare apples with apples. Also, few private universities have the research focus of the top public ones.
Hi Ike - I'm not a big fan of the USNews rankings but I have looked at them (that's why I'm not a big fan). As you stated, the website cited has indicated rankings that I do not believe were ever done by USNews. I could be mistaken. My initial impression upon scanning the list of schools and looking and the rankings assigned is that the originator of the website has invented some of these rankings. Jack
Agreed - or at least interpreted them in some way not intended (or even likely permitted) by US News. I've always preferred the BusinessWeek rankings as IU is a top 20 school there Cheers, Mark
