    Looking for Information

    Hello,
I just graduated with my associates degree in Human Resource Management from Rasmussen College and I was looking for an online college to attend to earn my Bachelors. I am a military wife so online learning is the best for me with all the moving we have to do. I was wondering how the classes are at this school. Are they hard, easy, and do you feel like you are learning something? I am going to enroll in the business management program specializing in HR management. The previous school I attended was online as well so I know about the online learning environment. Online school is extremely writing intensive and there are a lot of discussion boards. I guess I am wondering if you feel like this is a good school and if you feel like the courses were hard or easy. I was also wondering if they have group projects at this school? Any information I could get to help make my decision would be greatly appreciated. I have been looking at a lot of schools and am trying to decide on one. An admissions advisor from the University of Phoenix keeps calling me but I have heard bad things about that school so I am doing some research before I make any decisions.

You posted your question in the wrong thread. I suggest you repost as a new post in the general learning thread.

But you should avoid U of P mainly (in my opinion) they are way too expensive. There are other regionally accredited schools that are lower cost and more prestigious.

Other members might be able to provide better answers your questions.

Hang around - many members are involved in finals or holidays.

Got Your Masters Degree Certificate yet?

    Neil -

I am wondering reading from your post if you have received your CSU-global campus degree yet. I am considering the CSU masters program, but am skeptical about the DL language on the degree certificate. The person I spoke with at the CSU chat site assured me it doesn't contain any such language but I need to hear it from someone like you who has already graduated.

Any info you can provide will be grateful.

    Thanks,

    Justkool

edit: I seen that this old thread was restarted (after I responded) so below is by belated advice.

CSU online is regionally accredited, quality online program. If it has the program you like, go for it. They require proctored exams, which is not a hassle if you can find something local (I couldn't and it was a pain). They are only slightly less expensive than many private online schools, not a big fan of that for being a state college.

Regarding the resume issue, you are asking a bunch of academic gurus. We are all going to tell you that a "state university" on your resume looks better. But the reality is far more complex.

Degrees in management or organizational leadership can be acquired at practically any regionally accredited university and look good on a resume. Worry about the rest of your resume. Your experience, your achievements, your volunteer work...etc. Then go in there and be prepared to knock them dead in an interview. If you can speak to your business, that is worth its weight in gold.

Regarding management versus organizational management, I would go with the organizational management (the people-side of management) if you are working in fields of human resources, health services, military, something creative or nontraditional, or are already a manager of some sort. I would say forget the management degree and go for the MBA if you are in a traditional environment such as banking, marketing, retail, or any department where the bottom line is the major concern.

If you decide to go the organizational leadership route, be prepared to answer questions as to what that means. Everyone knows what an MBA is, but some of the seasoned professionals have no idea what a master of organizational leadership/management means. Let me just tell you, I was put on the spot by our fiscal director (an MBA of course). She looked at me with a funny look and says "organizational management...what is that?" right in front of several people. The room went silent. Thank God I was able to articulate that well. Just be ready.

    @ justkool,

I think you are good. "online" is just a format, the school is what goes on the degree.

Curious ... did you end up going to CSU Global? I'm about to start classes there and weary of the online only environment?
