Thinking of doing CLEP (College) Math... again; took it last year and didn't pass it by a slim margin of three points, 47 was my eventual score...

Considering that all others I've passed...

Can you give me advice? What's on it/look like this year?

    Anyone?

    One piece of advice.

Use a relevant thread title You are more likely to attract a relevant response that way.

You might do better at www.degreeforum.com .

FYI - There is a strong bias here for explanatory titles.

    CLEP (College) Math

My god... two replies and both of them... a title is just a title. If smth new appears read it.

    Strong bias? Why?

And I've seen Clep queries answered here before...

Look at the subject now. Is that any better? Just copy pasted...

Back to the question at hand. I'm thinking of doing CLEP (College) Math... again; took it last year and didn't pass it by a slim margin of three points, 47 was my eventual score...

Considering that all others I've passed...

Can you give me advice? What's it look like this year, anyone who would have done/tried it?

I failed first time using too many study sources. Most were not helpful at all.

Second time I studied from only Cracking the CLEP. It zeros right in on what the exam is all about. I read it 5-6 times and took practice exam 8-9 times and passed.

    Good luck!

    Re: CLEP (College) Math

Courtesy. Time is precious and an informative title allows the reader to skip those threads of no interest or those queries for which they have no answer.

The odds are slim that any here have taken that particular test in this particular year. degreeforum.com is specific to those sort of tests so you may get a better response there.

Do you have reason to believe the test has changed?

Okay, okay, everyone... I just gave the thread a proper title.

Timber, you seem to have been trying to bypass the requirement of a proper thread title into the "Subject:" field of the thread-starting post by simply typing a period (or something small) into it. Sorry, but you can't do that. Your titles should be brief, but relevant to the true subject of your thread-starting post.

So... that said... anyone got any advice for him?

i haven't taken any cleps..all i got to say is if you failed before by 3 points you were on the right track for the most part...just study what was on the one you failed and the info you didn't know..it can't be that different this year can it? Or look on ebay for Math CLEP books...

    Good Luck!!

Princeton Review's Cracking the CLEP has a good reputation for providing insight into test tactics as well as for covering the material.

  11. I'd be surprised if there were any changes (or significant changes). It's quite possible that one or more of the questions you saw previously would be on this test yet again.

Have you figured out why you failed? That'd be where I'd start. As you were so close to passing, perhaps a review in certain areas plus new learning where you're weakest will get you above 50.

I'd take a look at the Cracking the CLEP book, use purplemath.com as a source of preparation and take a couple of sample tests. Like other CLEPs, if you're scoring 2/3 of them right you're ready to go. If you're not scoring well enough, then you may want to cut your losses and take an online math class or do some more serious study prior to taking the CLEP.

    Good luck!

    Cheers,
    Mark

I do (I think, know why I couldn't pass) and have been revising... they left out the binary altogether. But math is math (I think that's speaking for us all). Always been a pain in my... and knew it would come back to haunt me.

Honestly, I can keep my economy intact, maintain my household. I'm a politician ;) the only math we do is fundraising, no one's ever gonna come up to you and ask to calculate the hypotenuse of $1m... that's it. That's how it goes. The military does the calculations we press the button, heh.

Thx, btw, have been using the Official Clep (2004 edition) study guide as well as 4tests. In fact 4tests for Social Sciences & History doesn't prepare you sufficiently. It's too easy. Beware.

    Nearly didn't pass w/ 'onl'y a 53...

Petersons was good until they discontinued their free sample tests.

Yes. Well, of course; why else have the 6 month quarantine, place that limit? So that test takers wouldn't be able to remember, come back in and repeat it right away...

I don't remember at any rate. But do know what I have to study.
