Those who speak English as a first language. The common saying, as we know it, "do unto others as you would have others do unto you," is nearly as old as modern English and comes from Mt 7:12.

If anyone at all was to be raptured, I can guarantee you that it was not going to be someone who frequents some other DL forum. It is, in fact, the 11th commandment.

There are lots of people who speak English who don't and never have read the Bible.

That's not what I said. "Do unto others as you would have others do unto you" comes from the Bible just as "let there be light," "a house divided can not stand" "love thy neighbor," "peace offering" "a sign of the times" "go the extra mile" "he who lives by the sword dies by the sword"and any of a number of common English expressions that I can not recall at the moment.

I don't understand why one would want so much to deny that. Besides, as both a Bible reader and a language nerd, I'd be the first to tell you when something didn't come from the Bible, like "God helps those who helps themselves," or the dogma of the rapture, limbo, infant baptism, the idea of a big bad antichrist on its way, holy water, the creationist version of origins, exorcism rituals, veneration of the cross etc, etc, etc.

On that note, I'll conclude by saying that about 9 out of every 10 things that people say are come from the Bible are not, but that the English rendition of the Golden Rule is. BAM, says Emeril.

You said that the origin of the golden rule was the Bible. You were wrong. The fact that many people learned it from the Bible doesn't mean that's where it originated. Everything after that is just you backpeddling.

Do you think I could use this as an excuse for forgetting to pay my electric bill????

No I wasn't and no I wasn't. I was simply trying to find a point that we could settle on. I guess that won't happen, so I'll go back to kicking spam and taking names.

    Oh, that's right, the thread...

Harold Camping now says that the end of the world will happen on OCTOBER 21.

That's alright, I know I don't meet the criteria for the rapture bus. I will just take the Greyhound bus to your pad. We can go shoot some pool and pound some diet Cokes. :)
