Yeah, it's going to be a zombie rapture party. So have all your weapons cocked, have your shooting stars, nunchakus, and garrote ready. I wouldn't hurt to pack a cuete (pistol).

I have all kinds of goodies I am going to pack, but I am going to hide them all under my Hakama, along with my freshly cleaned pistola. I figure between samurai swords and guns, it should be pretty damn fun!!!!!!!

What if the Rapture happens and in the end the world turns out to be a better place in the long run?

There is nothing in the Christian bible that describes or predicts a "rapture". It is said Jesus Christ doesn't even know when the "end of times" cometh.

Having said that, I am not a Bible Scholar. I believe God is a central being, and I mostly abide by Eastern ways/Taos. I live by the golden rule.

In case I haven't been clear enough, I'm a sure bet to be "left behind." So's my friends and most of the people I work with (I guess). Either way, I've got to go grocery shopping and clean my apartment on Saturday, I'm going to the beach on Sunday and then it's back to work on Monday. In between I'll be right here on DegreeInfo with all the other "lefties."

...and I revel in pointing out where the Golden Rule came from (Matthew 7:13)

Ummm, I don't know about "Enter through the narrow gate..." but the golden rule had it's origins waaaay before Jesus.

"Examples of statements that mirror the Golden Rule appear in Ancient Egypt, for example in the story of The Eloquent Peasant which is dated to the Middle Kingdom of Egypt (c. 2040–1650 BCE): "Now this is the command: Do to the doer to cause that he do."[6] Rushworth Kidder states that "the label 'golden' was applied by Confucius (551–479 B.C.), who wrote a version of the Silver Rule: 'Here certainly is the golden maxim: Do not do to others that which we do not want them to do to us.'" Kidder notes that this framework appears prominently in many religions, including "Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism, Zoroastrianism, and the rest of the world's major religions"."

    I meant verse 12.

Interesting info. I didn't know any of that. Who was first was not my point (although I will explore the idea below); the golden rule as we know it and use it today comes from the Bible.

I really don't know what "do to the doer to cause that he do" means, but it really doesn't sound like the golden rule. The Confusius maxim sounds very similar, and in fact, is consistent with matt 7:12, but definitely is not saying the same thing.

Lastly, Jesus was simply restating a principle that appears throughout the Bible. In fact, the words "love your neighbor as yourself" were written...

Well, in another hour and fifteen minutes, we'll all know whether all of this is true.

(sorry, my phone wouldn't let me type the whole thing)... about 1000 years before Confusius.

Anyway, several hours ago I realized that May 21 had already ended in much of the world, with no ascending bodies reported by BBC nor Al Jazeera, so I guess that takes care of that.

My ultimate goal is to become a Chun Tzu. Though, I realize it will take a lifetime to even come to close to this level of enlightenment, if at all. This will not stop me from trying.

    Definition - Chun Tzu

Confucius' social philosophy largely revolves around the concept of ren, “compassion” or “loving others.”

"Chun tzu(One who lives by Jen) The chun tzu is one who lives by the ideal of Jen and is neither petty, arrogant, mean-spirited or vengeful. A Chun tzu is one who is comfortable with his or herself and is completely respecting to the people he or she meets.

"'If there is righteousness in the heart, there will be beauty in the character. If there is beauty in the character, there will be harmony in the home. If there is harmony in the home, there will be order in the nation. If there is order in the nation, there will be peace in the world."'

A chun tzu was Confucius' solution to his historical situation. If one can be righteous in the heart, then he will naturally bring about peace to his surroundings."

    Ref. to Golden Rule:

Confucius' social philosophy largely revolves around the concept of ren, “compassion” or “loving others.” Cultivating or practicing such concern for others involved deprecating oneself. This meant being sure to avoid artful speech or an ingratiating manner that would create a false impression and lead to self-aggrandizement. (Lunyu 1.3) Those who have cultivated ren are, on the contrary, “simple in manner and slow of speech.” (Lunyu 13.27). For Confucius, such concern for others is demonstrated through the practice of forms of the Golden Rule: “What you do not wish for yourself, do not do to others;” “Since you yourself desire standing then help others achieve it, since you yourself desire success then help others attain it.” (Lunyu 12.2, 6.30). He regards devotion to parents and older siblings as the most basic form of promoting the interests of others before one's own and teaches that such altruism can be accomplished only by those who have learned self-discipline.

I haven't checked the "missing persons" report but everyone I know is still right here. The winner of our drinks contest has pointed out that once upon a time, Ernest Hemingway invented a drink called "Death in the Afternoon." Here it is:

1 jigger of absinthe added to a champagne flute
    - Add iced champagne until it attains the proper opalescence.
    - A small amount of sugar or Gomme syrup can be added to round it out, especially when using a verte absinthe.

None of that is for me and so here I am, still on the planet, no zombies in sight, chillin' with my degreeinfo buds. Welcome to Sunday degreeinfo!
