Tick tick tick 5 days to go.
The rumors behind news...Trump is afraid Pence wouldn't pardon him according to "knowledgeable sources". Plausible but not proven.
I saw the same bit of news. The unexplained question is whether or not Pence agreed to pardon Trump or not. The news I saw just said that Trump was concerned that if he resigned Pence wouldn't pardon him.
Political calculations will play-out.
If Trump runs as an independent in 2024 he may take millions of votes and mostly from Republicans.
This is now in play so based on future calculations they may want to prevent Trump from running in 2024.
I speculate, but in Senate trial in order to convict the Dem's will need Republicans.
If convicted in Senate then Trump can't run in 2024.
If not Trump can try to run as Independent in 2024. Or am I missing something ? I don't know exactly how this works.
No, you're correct but why wouldn't Trump run as a Republican 2024?
I can only speculate, 3 years ( I think if he plans and eligible to run we will know in 2023) is relatively long time but Trump will have to be active some way to retain large base of supporters, so there can emerge other GOP presidential contestants/candidates or Trump may not be be happy with the level of support he is getting from GOP now. Republicans will be reshaping the party adjusting so to say.
I think the Senate trial outcome will have some weight on his future decisions even if not convicted .
Given his deterioration, I don't see him having the faculties to get through the primary process in three years.
Now that, Lerner, is an interesting observation. Trump will have to keep his Base fired up for four long years if he is to run in 2024. No easy task. He's primarily a showman and knows how to keep an audience. Perhaps he will produce a Limbaugh-esque radio or television channel. But will his message of White Grievance age well? I guess we will find out.
I can't resist saying that I can't imagine him coming back in 2024. The reason I resist saying such a thing is that I couldn't imagine that he would win election in 2016 and we all know how wrong I was there.
Yes, I was wrong in 2016 and 2020. No one knows what Trump may do in the next 15 minutes let alone 4 years.
Yeah. Sometimes, I think that includes himself.
Lerner, that's a worrisome reality.
74 million of worrisome realities.
We will do a check of reality in the state of the union at some point.
Hope the state of the union will be better.
Who could imagine that DC will look like Guantanamo or Apocalypse/ 1984 movies scene on inauguration day?
Meanwhile the departing President refused to give any financial support to Virginia and Maryland for the expense of securing the Capitol from his murderous mob. There's really no bottom to the man. Biden will, of course, reverse that decision. Oh, and Steve Bannon got a pardon for his fraud scheme about the border wall. Oy.
Watching Joe Biden being seared in to the office of President of the US.
We wish him success in his new important job.
My he improve the state of the union.
Love his speech.
