Anybody with a decent computer and a couple of hours of spare time can design this site. Definitely not a GAAP institution. Yet, I can't help but laugh everytime I see a link for the International College of Homeland Security. :D

Just imagine how safe the U.S. would be if the senior management of the DHS were degree holders from this institution.

"TIU operates under a permissive provision of the statutes of The State of Missouri, providing the Exemption of Religious Institutions. Exempt status is the legal basis for the operation of our institution, including the granting of degrees."
    http://www.tiu.org/why.htm

In other words, they're another Hamilton University.

"TIU has submitted an application many years ago, to also obtain a 'Certificate to Operate' from The State of Missouri, but due to a tremendous backlog, this may take many years. We were informed that one school in Missouri has been on the list close to 20 years. [...] We were recently advised that our submission submitted in 1996 is now to old, and needs to be re-submitted, as MCBHE does not have the budget or means to evaluate it. Our last submission consisted of 6 months full time work at a cost of about 20K!!!!"

Quick calculation: If an employee's average salary is $40,000 a year, how many employees does TIU have? (Assume that those exclamation marks are not factorials.)

I have seen "their" building on another website, tho I can't remember where. It seems like it was not in the US. I recall the columns and the scrawny palm trees.

Was "Collin" your typo for "Colin"? Or does the letter actually say "Collin"?

I got some junk mail from the "homeland security" university just today. Although the website says "grandview, mo" (Kansas City) I'm sure the junk mail said springfield, mo.

Another embarassment for our state. Our AG is up for reelection next year; I think I'll forward this to him. He loves to grandstand and sometimes he's even right.

Before he began obfuscating the sources, it was possible to discern that Chancellor Barnhart had credentialed himself up to Ph.D. with paper from his own organizations, his associate's degree alone being legitimate. He now seems to have tacked on some more dubious doctorates of the Most Rev. Patriarch Dr. Chief Swift Eagle/Dr. Dr. Dr. Dr. Dr. Dr. Hoyer variety.

Thought the website are not professional, the university is genuine and is operational since 1973. The degree are granted and chancellor has reputation of good standing. The degree are not accredited by top accreditation bodies but university has great course material, conduct exams, have online programs material and follow regerous process for degree allocation. I have studied over two years to get a degree and not allocated in a day like diploma mill. The degree are attested by state department and then foreign office in Washington.
Dr John Wayne Johnson has been at The International university Foundation for long and they have good standing in Missouri

Amazing, a thread resurrected after 15 years. Well, Dr Barnhart's International University seems to be alive and kicking, but is now the International University of Ministry and Education, recognised by (or validated by, or a member of) the American Association for Higher Education and Accreditation, AAHEA. The other International University Missouri (run by Dr Johnson and Dr Pahuja) may be around still but its website, tiuonline dot com, isn't.

Yes. IIRC 4Dr. Barnhart is/was a bigwig in the AAHEA. Perhaps The Bigwig at some point. In fact, I believe he may have moved the organization, about 3-4 years back, to a rural Missouri building which he was said to have owned. I remember seeing an aerial photo of it in a news story about the AAHEA. I have no idea if the organization is still operating from there or where else it might be domiciled.

I last saw mention of 4Dr. Barnhart in two places. First, I learned he had been awarded a PhD. in Business Administration by the University that shall not be named. The one that sued a bunch of us DI members a few years back. That's why I now refer to him as 4Dr. Barnhart - I used to call him 3Dr. I also found him shown in a high office - I think it might have been Executive V.P. - on the site of now-defunct Paramount California University. Back then, that now-dead school's name surfaced in the media with some allegations it was linked to Axact - the Pakistan-invented scam with over 300 fake "schools" to its credit. I also recall Barnhart hotly denying association with PCU for any significant time, claiming he exited promptly - in his words, because he "smelled something." I wonder what it could have been?

If you use the search-gadget, you will find quite a few threads on Dr. Barnhart and schools / organizations he has been associated with over the years.

Also, if memory serves, The International University - formerly of Missouri - became a licensed, private University in Panama - at 55 Camino something-or-other, IIRC. Looks like those days are over - no website any more.

This was one of the first umUniversities I ever visited. Late 70s. Little white house in rural Missouri. Dr. Johnson was sitting on the porch. I asked if this was International University. He said no. There were no signs. I glanced in the garbage can out on the road. Envelopes addressed to "International University."

(The FBI assured me that once you have put out your garbage for collection, it is in the public domain.)

International University, Missouri in India - launched in late 80's. The news papers were full of advertisements. No need for any entrance test. No need of those dreadful admission interviews. Pay your fee, get some "study material", take some "exams' - and voila!!! an MBA from an American University!! Open the doors to the world!!Your passport to 5-figure (or six - or ten) salaries!!.

I know of many people who fell for the scam. People sold whatever they have to get this "passport to the world". About 4-5 years later, UGC finally woke up and issued a statement in the news papers - "International University, Missouri is not a UGC recognized university and hence their degrees can not be used for government jobs and academic purposes".

Long story short - after some suicides and angry mob attacks, International University, Missouri (India) melted into darkness and vanished.

What saved me (and my money) from this evil? @John Bear and his book. Yes...I HAD THE POWER!!!

(@John Bear was my hero from college days, and is my inspiration for keeping an eye on the DL scene. I can't believe myself one day I'll be posting in a forum next to his. Don't know if it's too much to ask or even possible, but wanted to meet him once).

Aw, shucks. Thank you for this, msbanti. If you find yourself in the San Francisco area, we could do coffee.

("Aw shucks" -- what can that possibly mean? What is a "shuck" other than something you do to a clam.)

My first thought is that it's something you might do to an ear of corn. Maybe there are other definitions.
