    Dear all,

I graduated in 2006 with an MBA from Edinburgh Business School, Heriot-Watt University. I must say that I was very pleased with the programme which I found both enriching and very applicable to my professional career.

I am now considering beginning the long journey towards a DBA - and even though that I was very satisfied with Heriot-Watt I would like to receive some thoughts on some of the alternatives on the academic market.

Initially, I have narrowed down the possibilities to:
    • Henley Business School, University of Reading
    • Aston Business School
    • Edinburgh Business School, Heriot-Watt University

This is based on costs of the programme, possibility of admission, distance learning possibilities and research areas.

If anybody has experience with these programs, I am very interested in hearing pro and cons on each.

Additionally, thoughts other Universities and Business Schools offering part time/distance learning DBA's are most welcome.

    Thanks in advance.

What is your research interest and why do you think they fit your research interest~

I am mostly interested in strategy or leadership. EBS has a DBA designed around strategy, while Henley and Aston are focused on management as far as I can see.

    Hafnia,

If nothing else separates the three you might want to go for Henley or Aston just to diversify your Universities of study.

You should also see if you can find a good advisor in your area of research at any of the schools.

I am doing an MBA at Henley and my course leader is starting a Doctorate at Lancaster (not sure if it is a PhD or DBA) so you might want to look at them also.

    All the best,

    Dave C.

    Grenoble

I have nothing against the fine schools you mentioned above... :) Please allow me to add that Grenoble School of Management offers (research oriented) DBA with limited residency requirement.
