The European Business Institute (EBI) was set up to provide foreign students with the opportunity to study in Ireland. The EBI offers a range of certificate, diploma, advanced diploma and degree courses. Each course has international accreditation providing the students with the opportunity to progress to further advanced study either in Ireland or abroad on completion of their studies in EBI. Courses are available in the following areas:

Hospitality, Computer/IT, Business, Accountancy, Electronics and Online Learning

Anyone has idea on what international accreditation are they talking about???

They're just offering tuition courses for BTec HNDs. OK, so it's a tad odd to be offering such courses in Ireland, but what's wrong with a HND?

A HND (Higher National Diploma) is a UK qualification that's held to be the equivalent of 1/2 to 2/3s of an undergraduate degree. In this case, the organisation looks like it's preparing students for the exams set by Edexcel, which is one of the three main examining bodies at the sub-undergraduate level in the UK.

Assuming that they're kosher (and the phone number is definitely Irish), they're just one of a number of private colleges that have been set up recently because Ireland currently has more students qualified to tertiary level than places for them in the existing state-sponsored institutions.

As for international credibility of a HND, I think Lawrie said several things, mainly less than complimentary, about US credential evaluators and HNDs!

In Malaysia, there few colleges who are offering Edexcel HNDs but these courses require approval by local ministry of education and accreditation board before courses can be offered to students.

EBI do not seems to be registered with HETAC » Higher Education & Training Awards Council. In addition they offer graduate diploma in business studies. I was wondering if they have a legal standing to operate as an Institute in Ireland.

I have been extensively involved in teaching HND courses and quite frankly they could be considered equivalent to "A" level only. Some HND students could gain entry into 2nd year of a 3 year degree programs but they would really suffer because HND courses are of vocational type and lack academic content. HND graduates wishing to transfer to US for a bachelor degree would face greater problems and probably get just about 30 credit transfer for their 2 years work of HND.
