    You're right of course

I'm impressed with your searching ability -- I thought I was the i'net search queen! Every year (in the very olden days) I'd eagerly search the local WaldenBooks for the new updated editions of the various Bears' guides. When finishing up my AS with Regents College (Excelsior) I used Peterson's to find courses I needed/wanted. But my favorite working references were from the Bear family. I was always interested in what was out there as far as distance learning. Then came the more common and popular use of the web, with the great sites you mentioned, including the place where I found Harrison Middleton -- degree.net.

This is way off topic ..... I worked for a Christian publisher in SoCal, twice. First time I was truly desperate for *any* job so I had to settle for an "executive assistant" position, something I had never done before. I was always in I.T./I.S. So I was really blessed with this very low-maintenance woman boss, the publisher, along with a department of women who wrote the Sunday School curricula and Vacation Bible School programs and other various books and materials. I really didn't have much to do so I spent a lot of time researching religion, religious web sites, that sort of thing. I was already an expert at searches.

The point of this convoluted story is that my boss and the other women in the dept. were soooo grateful and soooo impressed whenever they would ask me to look something up for them (online) and I'd come back in just a few minutes with scores of web sites. I mean, they'd practically cry with joy and thank me profusely! Embarrassing at the time ....
    :D
Really the kindest, most loving people I've ever worked with. Then three years later, after moving up here to WA and pretty much retired early, the HR head recruited me for their Director of Technology Services. Still loved the company! That was 2006-2007 but we couldn't manage to get even one purchase offer on our house on Whidbey, so we had to move back, tail betw. legs, lesson learned.

So are you currently searching for, or in, an academic program?

Last semester, Spring 2009, I was accepted into the online Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies with dual concentration in History and Political Science at Western New Mexico University, but my financial aid did not get processed in time so I was unable to avail myself of said acceptance. I might be able to get re-admitted with financial aid for Summer 2009. Barring that, I'll re-apply for Fall 2009 or seek out some other online graduate history program.

Ah, yes, indeed! Having gotten my copy of Bear's Guide 9th edition from the discard pile at the City University library, I got my next few Bears' Guides (I think it was the 10th through 12th editions) via direct mail from Costedoat & Bear and thereafter found the new editions of Bears' Guide at the Barnes & Noble and Borders bookstores, first in Seattle and later in Toledo.

    Best of luck Ted

Well I understand such things, as I had to apply for fin. aid to help pay for my daughter's college room and board. Man, those deadlines are brutal -- miss by one day and yer outta there! To add insult to injury, she dropped a class but didn't do it the right way, got an F because of course she didn't show up, and thus was put on academic probation. Her own fault, but I was biting my nails with worry about losing the fin. aid for the other expenses. Kidz. Gotta love 'em, can't kill 'em.

So does that mean you wouldn't be here as often, once you're back in academia? I'm a newbie here but can't imagine the forums without your postings and help.

I'm really interested in PoliSci but I didn't want to be angry all the time about my subject matter. I get riled very easily. Thus Philosophy/Religion for me, at least this time.

    ND-There's more...

University of Mary offers online MBA, including one in accountancy, MS in Leadership, Masters in Project Management and a nursing masters.

The tuition wasn't bad, and although they are in a cohort mode, they are flexible. They also are willing to let you flip between online and on-site programs which are offered all over the Dakotas and neigboring states.

I was going to move over to University of Mary until my &*#^%@$) employer jerked all tuition reimbursement.

I just noticed my Alma Mater now has an online MBA and Master in Accountancy, so I thought I'd share. The website states that each program costs $35,000, and that includes tuition, fees, books, and other materials. Also, the price is the same for both in and out of state students. Both programs are accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).
