So I applied to Excelsior in the BA General Business Program, received an "unofficial evaluation", and officially enrolled into the program.

They tell me its going to be 3 - 4 weeks for an academic advisor to give me an official assessment. What I am looking to do now is to determine what the best/easiest DSST/CLEP tests are for the outstanding requirements that I have. My goal would be to have almost all of my requirements done by the time I get an official evaluation. Also does EC give grades for DSST exams? I took DSST Supervision today, and have no idea what grade is associated with my score.

I've given my best shot on matching these, please advise or offer feedback on how difficult these are.

Arts and Sciences Component (60 Credits) - 0 Required
Additional Credit Component (15 Credits) - 4 Units of Free Elective Required
    Business Component (45 Credits)
Financial Management - DSST Principles of Finance? I can't
Organizational Behavior - DSST Organizational Behavior
Ethics - DSST Ethics in America? Will this work or do I have to use the Business Ethics course?
Advanced-Level Business Credit - Which 3 classes have higher passing rates?
    Management Information Systems;
    Money and Banking
    Business Ethics and Society
    Business Law II;

I need to take Information Literacy and Business Policy with EC, which is a total of 4 units.

You can take Information Literacy from Penn Foster College for $90 however they will require you to take at least 3 credits.

However Penn Foster is also a great source for your upper level electives:
    Intermediate Accounting I and II
    Cost Accounting I and II
    Sales Management

at only $90 x credit would get you 12 credits of upper level electives. I dont see Operations Management that is a required class.. CSU Pueblo is suggest for that it is $450 and unproctored. CSU Pueblo also has good upper level elective credit options for your business degree. Do you have Micro and Macro economics already?

Did you enroll using a partnership?

You dont have to take a Business Ethics class. I think any 3 credits in Ethics would work. I used Ethics from Clovis Community College.

Thanks for your recommendations. I thought Penn Foster was going to be my approach, but then I read here that some of the finals there are killer. I want to Test Out of as many units as possible.

So I did some more research, and I think I will take the 4 units of required classes at EC. I signed up for the partner rate, so I can save around $1,500 if I take the 12 units from them. Do you know if their ECE testing qualifies towards the 12 units?

Here is what I need to complete the BA in Business

    Additional Core Business:
    DSST Organizational Behavior
    DSST Ethics in America
    DSST Principles of Finance

I also need 9 Units of Upper Division Business, so I'm thinking about these.
    DSST Management Information Systems
    DSST Money and Banking
ECE Labor Relations or ECE HR Management

I've heard that the ECE tests are somewhat more difficult than DSST, so I'm struggling with taking the partner rate or not.

I have a DSST scheduled for Friday, so I will take either Ethics in America or Organizational Behavior.

Hi, I am 4 credits from graduation at EC: BS Business with a MIS concentration. I am in the partnership program. No, ECEs don't count. EC classes are pretty decent.

Have you thought about the Business Ethics DSST? Ethics in America is fun, but the other is tailor made for your major.

Money and Banking = 300-level Economics. I almost took it just because I enjoy policy issues. Business Law II is another fine candidate for this requirement, and may be a tad more practical depending on your goals.

  5. Unless things have changed in the years since I completed my degree Excelsior accepts the Operations Management TECEP (OPM-301-TE) from TESC. I ended up with a score of 60 but it doesn't count towards GPA so my transcript just shows a pass.

In checking, wow, the price has gone up to $177 a credit hour (total: $531) and it will need to be proctored. However, it IS an exam.

Also, the general consensus is that Money and Banking is one of the toughest DSST exams. I avoided it and took both HR and Labor Relations. MIS is a good choice if you have some background or experience with IT.
