A combat disabled veteran who happens to have a PhD from Capella University.

The interesting thing is that the familiar trope with for-profit schools and politicians is "would they ever send their kids there?"

Even more interesting is that a Capella grad now represents Illinois in the senate alongside for-profit hunter Dick Durbin.

    From Wikipedia:

Duckworth was working towards a Ph.D. in political science at Northern Illinois University, with research interests in the political economy and public health in southeast Asia, when she was deployed to Iraq in 2004...She returned to school and completed a PhD in Human Services at Capella University in March 2015.[15]

Interesting. That sounds like she knows better than most people how public institutions often fail non-traditional students, with private institutions picking up their slack.

She lost both legs and has one lame arm so she may have wanted an online school.

Another valid reason online schools are better for some students compared to others.

At a minimum I think it just throws a wrench into Durbin's common trope.

"Are you saying your colleague and fellow Democrat has a bogus degree?"

To be fair there are bad operators in the for-profit space. But in Durbinland schools like Capella are evil no matter how favorable their outcomes.
