I have 37 credits to complete for my BA in Communication at Excelsior. This week, I am taking the DSST Civil War and Reconstruction exam. I have been taking practice exams and have been scoring around 78 percent on them. I could stand to brush up on the battles more...who the generals were for each one and so forth. I have been studying using Spark Notes, Wikipedia and other information I have found online. The exam is Wednesday.

The other DSSTs I have yet to take are:

    Principles of Public Speaking
Rise and Fall of the Soviet Union
    Business Ethics and Society
    Money and Banking

    Wish me luck!

Good luck! 21 of my credits in undergrad were a combination of DSST and CLEP. I think that by doing well on the practice exams, you're doing what you need to pass the exam.

I think you will do fine, my test mentioned the copperheads and who lead them.

Plenty on McClelland including what he did after he was removed from command.

John Brown and Bleeding Kansas, massacre at Potawatamee Creek, Harpers Ferry.

    Gettysburg, and the Wilderness Campaign.

Know what Grant/Sherman did out west, how they came to lead the Union Army.

    Good Luck,

    Reb

Just finished my DSST Civil War and Reconstruction exam, and I scored a 59. A score of 47 is passing. That's good enough for 3 UL credit hours!

To prepare for this test, I read the SparkNotes on pre-Civil War, Civil War and Reconstruction history. I also read the same topics on Wikipedia. I studied for about a week, and I took the test with a raging head cold.

Up next: DSST Rise and Fall of the Soviet Union.
