does anyone know of any "state approved" schools in california that offer b.a. degrees in theology, christian counseling or psychology that are not diploma mills or frauds.

  2. If you're not dead set on California-state-approved schools vs. schools in other states that have regional or national accreditation, you might want to check out Baker's Guide to Christian Distance Education.

See http://www.gospelcom.net/bakersguide/bachelors.php for undergraduate programs. There are some that might fit your needs. For example, Oral Roberts University offers a Bachelor of Science in Christian Care and Counseling; Liberty University has a Bachelor of Science in Psychology; Griggs University has a Bachelor of Arts in Religion and Bachelor of Arts in Theological Studies -- and there are many other possibilities.

    seeking approved schools....

accredited schools are fine for some but for me - i'm older, dont want to spend 3 -4yrs, dont want any debt after with ed dept. and my funds are limited.

i want to spend in time 1-2 years for a ba.

want to pay as i go, no loan.

want to spend between $1000 - $2500 on ba.

plus my 2 years college is from a bible college "approved" school 70 units and accredited schools dont want it.

if you know of any schools out there approved. lets me know. thx.

    personal knowledge

It really depends what your goals are.
An unaccredited but state approved degree may not be a conduit into employment. It may be an excellant means of self study and reflection.
If you search Bakers you may be pleasantly surprised with some of the accredited colleges.
    All the best!

Re: state approved degree mill ???

California has a religious exemption. So in the case of theology and religion schools, there may be very little state regulation.

Unfortunately I can't answer the original question since I don't follow the CA-approved Christian schools. Besides religious exemptions, they are further complicated because they involve matters of faith, doctrine and sectarian associations as much as they involve academics.
