    Hi everyone!

I have to wirte a short essay on an aspect of change in Social Work education, and I chose distance learning. Can anyone guide me to some good links on this matter, or share some of the degree info knowledge on this matter?:D

    Thanks

No links, that I know of, but I certainly am interested in the subject. FSU, my alma mater has an online MSW, but I wish they would extend it to the Ph.D. Let us know what you find.

I am curious, though, if the CSWE recognizes the online social work degrees (BA and Masters level). Usually to get licensure you need to have attended a CSWE accredited school, or am I wrong?

    CSWE

I believe that is correct. Online programs at CSWE schools require the same internships as the classroom based, so licensure requirments will be met for various states.

The only exception I know of to this is if a state recently implemented SW licensure and a grandfathering clause allows one SW licensure if one has relevant experience and a degree in any behavioral or allied health field.

In IL, a CSWE MSW is not required, so long as the degree meets the standards of the board.

One interesting item that I've run into lately is in regards to Continuing Education Units for Social Workers who are keeping up their license status. More specifically, some states (like Massachusetts) allow alternative methods of obtaining CEUs such as buying video/audio tapes of lectures as opposed to having to attend in-person lectures. Other states (like Connecticut) do not allow this. This is the only Social Work education issue with which I am currently involved.
BTW, the tapes are first class. You can hear lectures of people you'd never get to see in person ('cause maybe they're way out there on the Left Coast or something). The prices are good and besides, it gives you something useful to do in the car.
Good luck with your project Gina.
