Billions & Billions by Carl Sagan. (No, he didn't say it; Johnny Carson did.)

The new "Cosmos" series on PBS (30-something years later) got a fantastic review in today's local paper. Starts tomorrow (March 9).

I can't resist. I'm such a big fan of Carl Sagan. I have read almost all of his books and have the original Cosmos on DVD. I saw him live in San Antonio and he just killed! My three favorite books of his are Broca's Brain, The Dragons of Eden, and the amazing Cosmos. The new series has the involvement of Dr. Sagan's co-collaborator and wife, Ann Druyan. That, along with Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson, practically ensured success. I'm gratified to hear that the reviews are good. I am going to be glued in front of the TV on Sunday nights! (And going back through the original with delicious pleasure.) Highly recommended!

I think it's great that they brought back Cosmos. NDT will certainly be a capable host, the first episode was a bit disjointed but very enjoyable. Looking forward to many more! Although it is on Fox which means its funded by the evil Koch Brothers and could just be a ruse to get me to attend a TEA party meeting...or some other racist thing about killing old people and starving minority children. But, I couldn't help it. I was excited and even my kids liked it ;)

Evolution has nothing to do with religion. The only people who think so are those who feel religion is threatened by science.

I am on a pure junk science fiction kick right now and just finished John Scalzi's Fuzzy Nation.

How dare you refer to the hilarious yet touching story of Fuzzy Nation as junk? I must not have heard you properly. :grumpy:

Recently read "Replay" by Ken Grimwood and "The Razor's Edge" by W. Somerset Maugham. Both books were excellent.

Unfortunately, I won't be reading much fiction over the next 18 months while I work on my MPH.
